Offering Passionate TV Fans Another Way to Stay Connected to Their
Favorite Shows and the World of Entertainment and Celebrity
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2007--TV.com, a leading
content and community site for TV fans and a property of CNET
Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNET), today announced the launch of four
original video programs available at www.tv.com. The shows, which were
created for TV fans who want to stay connected to television and the
world of entertainment, offer a unique blend of editorial commentary
from TV.com's line-up of entertainment experts, as well as from the
site's audience of passionate TV fans.
Launched less than two years ago, TV.com has emerged as the one of
the most popular independent TV sites on the Web. Nearly 19 million
people visit the site each month to learn about their favorite shows
and characters, discover new programming, and interact with the site's
expansive online community. Now, the site is further expanding its
offerings for TV fans with four new shows that offer TV fans a new way
to interact with the site's community, comment on the new programs,
and potentially come up with new topics for the shows to cover.
"Television fans have come to rely on TV.com for information about
their favorite TV shows and characters because we give them access to
the content they want, when they want it, in the format they prefer,"
said Greg Brannan, vice president of programming, CNET Networks
Entertainment. "The addition of these four new shows that revolve
around TV culture makes TV.com a recurring stop for television fans
that want to find new shows as well as get closer to the shows they
already love."
New shows, which range in topics from Hollywood beauty and style,
to classic TV favorites from the past, to what's new and exciting on
TV, include:
TurboVision - Hosted by comedian Laura Swisher and filled with her
witty commentary, this daily video provides an overview of what's on
TV each night, and makes suggestions about the night's best viewing
options.
Prime Times Past - This weekly program offers a bite-sized look
back at the TV shows that people have obsessed over the past two
decades. The show, available each (day of the week), will offer a pop
culture perspective of what was going on in the world when these shows
were hits, and how these favorites influenced the overall television
industry.
Extreme Beauty Time with Quentin - Each week, funny and fabulous
host "Quentin" provides his unique take on beauty with the unveiling
of a satirical, wince-inducing digital celebrity portrait. The
resulting gallery will boast a who's who of Hollywood in all their
surreal glory.
The Burning Question - Each week TV.com's Laura Swisher takes to
the streets of San Francisco to confront people on the streets with
questions prompted by recent TV celebrity hi-jinks.
