In addition to granting me consistent funds to support my alarming penchant for cupcakes, cobbler and the like, the MTV job has brought me that much closer to more than a few childhood idols. Rutger Hauer? Check! Carl Weathers? Bam! Done!

And as if chatting with Apollo Creed wasn’t enough…I even recreated a scene from Rocky IV with him. Don’t be alarmed, I’m not wearing red white and blue boxing trunks (though the thought did cross my mind).

History was recently made, my friends. In what I can only imagine was a pitch meeting for an unorthodox buddy cop show at the CW, the world’s tallest man (Bao Xishun) and the shortest (He Pingping) met face to face at last.

Tragically moments after this photo was taken Xishun ate the little fella. Can you really blame him though? Doesn’t Pingping look delicious?!?

Strange how things work. When I came over to MTV I can truly say I never anticipated it would come to this…me interviewing Sam Rockwell in a pair of shorts and a “Welcome to Mooseport” hat.

But here we are.

Spent the last six days in Quebec City and Montreal and just because I left the U.S. of A for a barbaric backwards land, the learning didn’t stop. Some lessons learned in the past week…

–Entertainment Tonight Canada is a trip to watch. Starved for some Nelly Furtado news? This is the place to be.

–The crepe place across the street from me? Better crepes than Quebec City’s…

–There’s nothing more depressing than the Montreal Casino at 9am on a Tuesday morning. Oh wait, I’ve been to Atlantic City…

–The front desk at the Montreal Fairmont Queen Elizabeth? No match for my debate skills…not when they try to screw me on the hotel bill.

–I’m not quite over that fear of flying particularly when I’m in an eensy weeny plane. It took every ounce of self control not to scream “this isn’t right!” as we were about to take off.
