Ryan Malone reached several milestones in 2006-07 with the Penguins.

On Dec. 13, he recorded the first four-point game of his four-year NHL career. Two nights later, he tallied his first-career hat-trick. Malone’s father, Greg, had a hat trick for the Penguins in 1978-79. The Malones are the second father/son pair to record a hat trick for the same franchise. Ken Hodge Sr. and Ken Hodge Jr. did it for the Bruins.

Malone added another historic hat-trick in 2006-07 on Feb. 19. He became the first player in NHL history to record a hat-trick and score all three of his goals in the first minute of each period – No. 1, 45 seconds into the first period; No. 2, 49 seconds into second period and No. 3, 48 seconds into third period.

He also appeared in his 200^th NHL game and notched his 100^th career point.

A broken wrist kept him off the ice for 18 games early in the season. Nevertheless, he rebounded to tally 51 points (16+15) and 71 penalty minutes in 64 games during the regular season.

Also, he has been one of the Penguins’ top penalty killers this season. He has one short-handed goal and one assist.

2005-06: Ryan Malone, in his second NHL season, came on strong and concluded the 2005-06 campaign with a three-game points streak (3+1). He finished the season with 44 points (22+22) in 77 games, which was one point better than his 43-point effort (22+21) in 81 games as a rookie.

He was a force on the penalty kill, too. Malone notched five short-handed goals in the team’s last 33 games and finished tied for third in the NHL with five short-handed goals and tied for third with seven short-handed points (5+2).

2004-05: Played in nine games for Blues Espoo (Finland), recording three points (2+1) and 36 penalty minutes…Appeared in 10 games for SV Renon (Italy), recording eight points (6+2) and 20 penalty minutes…Recorded eight points (4+4) in six playoff games…Played in one playoff game for Ambri-Piotta (Switzerland)

2003-04:  Appeared in 81 games with the Penguins during his rookie season…Led the team with 22 goals, ranked third in scoring with 43 points and tied for third with 21 assists…Led the team with three short-handed goals and ranked second with four game-winning goals…Finished fourth overall among NHL rookies in scoring, ranked fourth in goals, tied for fifth in assists, tied for sixth with five power-play goals…Led all rookies in short-handed goals and short-handed points (4), tied for fifth with eight power-play assists…Ranked second in game-winning goals, ranked first in shooting percentage (15.8%) and was fifth with 139 shots on goal…Became the first NHL rookie to score three overtime goals in one season…Became the first Penguins rookie to score 20 goals in a season since Shawn McEachern scored 28 in 1992-93…Named to the Eastern Conference’s Young Guns roster during All-Star weekend…Recorded his first point, an assist, Oct. 11 @ Philadelphia…Recorded his first multiple-point game, with two assists, Oct. 18 vs. Detroit…Scored his first NHL goal Oct. 29 vs. NY Islanders…Scored the game-winning goal in overtime Nov. 1 vs. Boston…Scored the game-winning goal in overtime Nov. 22 vs. Ottawa…Scored two goals Feb. 10 vs. Boston…Recorded a point in four straight games, Feb. 10-16 (4+1)…Scored three goals in nine games with Team USA at the World Championships, helping Team USA to a third place finish
