Grand Slam Final Bilbao
The Grand Slam Final takes place from September 2-13 in Bilbao, Spain. The participants are the winners of the Grand Slam tournaments in Wijk aan Zee, Morelia-Linares and Sofia plus three grandmasters selected on the basis of their results in these tournaments. The double round-robin tournament is played in a glass cage ('the aquarium' as some call it) on the Plaza Nueva in the centre of Bilbao. The participants are Vishy Anand (2798), Vasily Ivanchuk (2781), Veselin Topalov (2777), Magnus Carlsen (2775), Teimour Radjabov (2744) and Levon Aronian (2737).
