Since When Does Luigi Have a Girlfriend?
Additionally, racers will be able to select two distinctly different carts for their chosen character, and the game engine sports an amazing amount of special moves and items for a Mario Kart title. Racers have the ability to hop over obstacles, power slide, and perform skid maneuvers, which can add an additional speed boost at the end of your turn radius.
The DS's dual screen layout is also used flawlessly. The top screen is used to show actual gameplay, while the bottom screen shows the course map, and shows the players current race position and your competitor's current power-ups--which adds a lot of strategic depth in deflecting competitor's attacks and blocking their paths.
While the Grand Prix mode is traditionally the focus of many racers, Mario Kart's real allure is the wi-fi multiplayer feature. Mario Kart allows up to eight players to connect via the DS download and play function (where only one cartridge is needed for all racers, but the gameplay is limited), or the Multi-Card function (where all racers have the Mario Kart cartridge and the gameplay sports the full version of features and courses).
With a veritable buffet of racers, courses, modes, and multiplayer options, Mario Kart DS is a must play for any Nintendo fan and a requisite for any DS owner.
