UVa QB Lalich won't play Saturday

Virginia announced late Wednesday afternoon that sophomore quarterback Peter Lalich will not play in the Cavaliers' game Saturday against Connecticut.
Redshirt sophomore Marc Verica, who has not thrown a pass in his college game and has played once, will start against the Huskies.

"We stand by Peter and in talking with him have made a decision which is best in the short term for him, the team, and our University," Groh said in a statement distributed by UVa's sports information office.

"We have a strong set of standards and values on our team that reflect those of the University and we do not compromise those values to win football games."

Lalich was arrested in July for underage possession of alcohol and was cited last week in Charlottesville General District Court for violating his probation.
