HOW HITLER LOST THE WAR (1993, White Star, $29.95) Turns out, movies like The Longest Day and Patton have it all wrong: Nazi defeat was not due to the Allies' military smarts or weapons supremacy, but to der Fuhrer's strategic bungling. With boners such as letting the British army escape at Dunkirk and failing to prepare for a winter conflict in Russia, Hitler blew opportunities to win World War II before the U.S. even entered it. The tape uses this dubious thesis as an excuse to put him on the couch, abetted by recycled wartime newsreels and confirming interviews with military historians and ex- Nazi officers. B- -TC
