Senator Kasim Reed of Atlanta was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2002. He serves as a member of the Judiciary, Higher Education, Retirement, and State and Local Government Committees.
Senator Reed served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002, where he was a member of the House Judiciary, Education, and Congressional and Legislative Reapportionment Committees
Born in New Jersey, Reed earned his bachelor of arts in political science from Howard University in 1991. He went on to obtain his juris doctorate from Howard University School of Law in 1995. An attorney in the music industry, Senator Reed practices law with the law firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, LLP.
Active in community affairs, Senator Reed is a member of Outstanding Atlanta, Leadership Georgia and Leadership Atlanta. He is also a member of Cascade United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
Senator Reed represents the 35th Senate District, which includes portions of Fulton and Douglas Counties and the City of Atlanta.
