Mind you – as he himself would sing – Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad.
Thousands of people swooped like bats out of hell on Home Park to catch the larger-than-life American performer's concert in the rain.
It wasn't a sellout, and the weather wouldn't have encouraged people to buy any on the night.
But the rain and a blanket of mist certainly didn't deter the hardened Meat Loaf fans.
And it looked like some fans had a hell of a time.
Twins Abby and Trudy-Red Rickard, 20, from Keyham, said they went to see Meat Loaf because he's just such a good rock performer.
They said: “He's brilliant. We didn't care what the weather was like – we just wanted to see a legend.”
Karen Avery, from Newton Abbot, celebrated her 41st birthday by watching the big-hearted superstar.
She said: “I have loved him since I was 13. I saw him last year and I was dying to see him again, this time in Plymouth.
“It seemed like a great way to celebrate my birthday. The bad summer weather just didn't matter.”
Andy O'Connor, 38, from Plymstock, said he saw both the Elton John and George Michael concerts at Home Park last year.
He said: “They were great, so I was really looking forward to seeing Meat Loaf. I thought he was brilliant when I was a kid and I still think he's a great act now.”
People from all over the country went to the gig, which saw Meat Loaf kick off his summer UK tour.
It was his live comeback – his first gig since a cyst on his vocal chords forced him to cancel shows last year.
He opened with some of his new songs last night – and also did top renditions of Bad For Good and Dead Ringer. And, of course, some of his other classics were in the set as well.
The rocker – real name Marvin Lee Aday – last played in Plymouth at the Pavilions in 2003 – but his gig last night was under the Live and Kicking banner, along with Westlife, who play at Home Park tonight.
It's all part of the Plymouth Summer Festival.
The crowd seemed to enjoy the big guy's performance last night, despite the weather.
Not to put too fine a point on it, they proved they would do anything for him – even stand out in the rain.
