79.4 billion KZT required for Asian Winter Games in Almaty

ALMATY. Approximately 79,428 million KZT are needed to provide the sports facilities with engineering infrastructure for the Asian Winter Games 2011 in Almaty, an informed source has told Kazakhstan Today.
Certain power supply works should be carried out, in particular, construction of eight substations and one power transmission line. According to preliminary information, the expenditures related with this will amount to 27,188 million KZT. Besides, a set of measures related with the heat supply is required - reconstruction of seven heating systems, enlargement, gas and power supply of the "Orbit" boiler-house, construction of heating systems in the Southern area, reconstruction of Heat Power Plant No.2 and the Western Heating Complex. 52,240 million are suggested to be spent for this.
408,360 million must be invested into the transport infrastructure including reconstruction and construction of main transport routes - 30,000 million KZT, construction of overpasses for distraction of the transit transport flows from the centre of the city - 67,800 million KZT, construction of flyovers on the main city crossroads - 90,000 million KZT, the Big Almaty Ring Road - 33,920 million KZT, a light railway transport line Talgar - Almaty - Kaskelen - 27 million KZT. 44,800 million will be needed to purchase city passenger buses, 6,000 million for taxis, 45,000 to create a modern electric transport system. 63,840 million are needed for the completion of the first underground line.
A certain part of the funds must be invested into the environmental stabilisation, particularly, installation of catalysts on the communal transport will require 540 million KZT.
A number of sports facilities are planned to be erected for the VII Asian Winter Games in 2011. In particular, the construction of an Ice Palace for 20 thousand spectators, an Ice Stadium with 400 m track, skiing and biathlon structures, a new Alpine skiing base, ski-jumps K-90 and K-120 with tribunes for 20 thousand spectators, a bob structure.
Almaty was elected as a host city for the VII Asian Winter Games 2011 late last year. A trilateral agreement is planned to be signed on March 4, 2006, in the Olympic Council of Asia in Kuwait between the Almaty city administration, the National Olympic Committee of RK, and the Olympic Council of Asia.
The planned terms of the Asian Winter Games in Almaty are January 30-February 6, 2011. There will be competitions in 14 sports.
