Micky Adams has bolstered his squad ahead of the trip to Northampton after signing Coventry City midfielder Kevin Thornton on loan.

The 22-year-old, who has been capped for the Republic of Ireland's under-21s, will link up with the Albion squad in the team hotel tonight and goes straight into the squad for the clash at Sixfields on Saturday.

His initial loan spell will run up to and including the Carling Cup match against Derby County on the 4th November.

An attack-minded midfielder, Thornton has made nearly 50 appearances for the Sky Blues at Championship level.

He is a product of Coventry's youth academy, and was handed his Sky Blues debut by Adams during his tenure as manager at the Ricoh Arena.

Adams said, "Kevin is an exciting young talent who likes to get on the ball and play.

"He is going to be an excellent addition to the squad."
