A friend reminded me of this outrageously sexist TV commercial for Braniff Airlines. It was part of an otherwise brilliant strategy conceived by Mary Wells Lawrence in the mid-1960s.
First, she got Braniff to paint each of its planes a bright color. Then she hired clothing designer Emilio Pucci to create a wardrobe of uniforms for the Braniff "air hostesses," including bikinis that, I'm assuming, the women never wore while on duty.
This spot introduces the flight attendant's new uniforms -- in the form of a strip tease. Just watch. CLICK here to see Braniff's famous Air Strip commercial.

Advertising agency,Ogilvy, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, explains the thinking behind this campaign:
CHANGE is an international upscale brand providing quality lingerie, swimwear and homewear. The objective of the ad was to announce the launch of CHANGE in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ads' main focus is to utilize the concept behind censorship in Saudi Arabia to pull focus on the Brand's product line and to transform censorship into art. The ads are all in English, as they target an upscale bilingual audience."

To be fair, a Disney spokesperson said the ad couldn't have been approved by Disney's corporate offices where all advertising images are supposed to be submitted for approval.
