Who's not working

There have been rumors of his departure for almost a year, but apparently it took a harassment complaint and a campaign by community leaders to push Yomi Agunbiade out of his position as Recreation and Park Department chief.

The mayor's office announced his departure Wednesday, one month after the department's spokeswoman filed a sexual and religious harassment complaint against Agunbiade.

No reason was given for the change, and Agunbiade will stay on until a replacement is named. Recently, dozens of park advocates have called for his firing after he reassigned spokeswoman Rose Dennis.

Dennis had complained that Agunbiade had sent her letters and left phone messages in 2006 and 2007, criticizing her wardrobe and makeup, telling her something was wrong with her upbringing and telling her she needed to "find Jesus."

Staff members called him tyrannical. He was also wildly unpopular with park activists and some members of the Recreation and Park Commission. Yet the former city engineer is credited with restructuring the troubled department after being put in charge in 2004.

It's not clear whether he will remain a city employee - but there is at least one benefit to losing his job: Agunbiade must be relieved that his mug shot and phone number will no longer be a ChronicleWatch fixture.

Another sexually-frustrated religious pervert with a little bit of power...Chief of Recreation and Park Department! Impressive; I will bet his Mommy is just as proud of him as Jesus is!
