James - February 2006
I spent ten days in Byron Bay and Broken Head, surfing every day. It was spectacular. The dolphins were out, and would catch the waves with you. Awesome. And the locals were very chilled out. Loved it!

Byron Bay is my favourite holiday destination in Australia. Surfing at Broken Head, chilling at the cafes and restaurants, and pubs in town, and relaxing at some cool accommodation overlooking the beach. Its a great place for a holiday.

Byron Bay is the number one tourism destination by most travelers. You must stop there for a few days on the way up the coast. If you can, stay for a week

A Beautiful beachy town in Northern NSW. Well worth a visit. Very relaxing, but lots of tourists as well. Nice cafes and places to eat. Lots of accommodation choices.

I love the beach and Byron Bay has to be one of the best beaches on the east coast, filled with hippies and sunshine

Byron Bay is on the far north coast of NSW. It is the most Eastern point of Australia and its hinterland is mainly rainforest It is a very popular destination with beautiful beaches and caters well for all sorts of tourists.

Byron Bay is the most lay back place I have ever been to. They usually host many festivals through out the year like the blues festival. Byron Bay is magical.

It is a relaxed environment in Byron although it is now so popular that sometimes this can be difficult.Great restaurants here with empasis on natural organic ingredients, as there still is the hippie vibe around.fantastic beaches and if you\'re lucky you can swim with the dolphins. If you don\'t like crowds avoid the blues festival.

Byron is best visited during its vibrant annual festival when streets are closed off and the entire town comes out to party!

a cool easy going town with loads of hippies. Some good places like the beach hotel which rivals portsea pub for location and view - pitty about the tooheys though ! good surf, great place to chill out

The Ultimate Beach Holiday. Hip, cool and trendy. The beaches are stunning especially Tallows beach (on the other side of town and not so frequented). And for a great night out, don\'t miss Cheeky Monkeys

Byron Bay is home to Cape Byron which is the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. Here is the famous lighthouse which is still working. I recommend the funky Arts Factory where you can stay in a teepee for backpackers.

I love Byron but it has become very busy and touristy in the last 2 years (particularly during schoolies). Not so much of a hippy vibe these days but still a lovely spot.

Alicia - December 2004
I crossed from Queensland to Byron Bay in NSW for my first new year\'s and crossed back again to Queensland up to the Gold Coast for my second on the same day! Water restrictions apply sometimes, and yes, some locals take it seriously by having showers in moderation.

Byron Bay is a paradise lost in the world. It is so laid back and perfect to relax. You can enjoy the beach as much as you can. The light house is certainly a nice walk.

This was my 19th year in Byron. It has changed a lot in that time, but it is still one of the most beautiful places I have visited. Try ultra-lighting over the Cape, snorkelling at Julian Rocks, or just relaxing and drinking at the Beach Hotel. The sun shines ALMOST everyday and there\'s usually somewhere to surf or sunbake everyday.

Hippies? There used to be hippies here?? Oh, you meant yuppies...a cruisy cool beach town, but the atmosphere that made it famous is well and gone, reminiscent only in the numerous crystal reading and massage venues scattered around the town. Cool none the less, Byron is now where the money\'s at. Great bike riding tracks around and loads of cool surf and drinking spots.
