APCT Prototype Test Results highly appreciated by Ultracapacitor Experts

APowerCap Technologies (APCT) ultracapacitors test results were highly appreciated by participants of the 16th International Seminar on Double Layer Capacitors & Hybrid Energy Storage Devices in Deerfield Beach, Florida, December 4-6, 2006.

APCT presented recently developed technologies for production non-expensive nanoporous carbon-based electrodes and organic electrolyte. Test results of ultracapacitor prototypes of 55 F, made with the new APCT technology, demonstrate the highest power density with high energy density. Also the results of abuse tolerance test of ultracapacitor prototypes show that there is no risk of significant overheating or burning in case of ultracapacitor destruction or mechanical fracture.

Dr. Andrew Burke, a recognized expert in ultracapacitors and relative technologies, presented comparative tests of ultracapacitors in the market and ultracapacitors being developed – see Table below. According to Dr. Burke’s report, APCT ultracapacitors have superior performance comparing with other developers. «The RC time constant of the APowerCap cell is significantly lower and its peak power is considerably higher than any ultracapacitor previously tested from other developers», said Andrew Burke.

The seminar gathered representatives of key development companies in ultracapacitor market - Maxwell Technologies, NessCap, Nippon Chemi-com, Asahi Glass, Korchip, as well as companies utilizing ultracapacitors in their applications. They represented various industries, mainly automotive, consumer electronics and industrial power quality.
