Shipley named national player of week

Receiver Jordan Shipley was named Sunday as national offensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Shipley helped beat Oklahoma, 45-35, with his catches and his 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The return was the third longest in school history and the longest in the 103-game series.

He had a career-high 11 catches for 112 yards with a touchdown.

In his three games against Oklahoma, Shipley has scored four touchdowns.

Texas senior WR Jordan Shipley has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 11, the foundation has announced.

Shipley also has been nominated as an ESPN game changer.

many people would have quit or transferred after all the injuries jordan had.this should show players to believe in themselves put in the hardwork and prove that you deserve to play at TEXAS.we see way to many players leave when they do not start from the beginning.HOOK`EM HORNS

I am a huge Shipley fan. He is exceptional. He should enjoy this season and then go to the NFL. He has the talent, and given his injuries, he shouldn't risk another year at the college level.

Congrats to Jordan! And of course the TV announcers predictably & unimaginatively chose both quarterbacks as players of the game. Gawd, I'm sick of Musberger!!!!!!!

Shipley played incredible Saturday. However,I wish that Orakpo got more notoriety. He dominated the OU line play after play. Their tackle had to tackle him about 10 times (and only 1 or 2 were called holding). He might be the best DE in the country.

Having watched this young man when he played high school football and through all the injuries that plagued him at the beginning of his college career I am glad he is finally getting the recognition for being an awesome talent and team player. Very humble, very poised and smart, all great traits for a wide receiver and role model. I hope he gets his 6th year and comes back to help the youngsters develope into the NC hunting team that we expect. Congratulations Jordan, you deserve this.
