Report: Facebook Considering Music Services

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on October 17, 2008 - 11:33am.

New York - Online social network Facebook has been in talks with a number of existing digital music services -- including Rhapsody, Imeem, iLike and Lala -- on providing a more deeply integrated music service on the site, the New York Post reported.

Sources told the Post that no decisions have been made yet, but that Facebook is not interested in building its own service, or copying the joint venture with record labels that rival MySpace formed for its new music service.

The company would not comment for the Post, other than to say that music is an element of its mission, and that it is "always talking with potential partners."
