OMG at Resistance Leviathan (ad) attacking building

Wow, that sure is a Leviathan-sized ad plastered over the side of this building over Wilshire Avenue in Los Angeles. The ad is noteworthy, not only because its scale -- but because it accurately depicts what you'll be facing off in Resistance 2.

Check out more pics at G4.

Deal of the Night: Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway at $40

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is a relatively new title. It was just released almost exactly one month ago. It's a first-person shooter, which means it's a dime a dozen; there are already a lot of them to go around. To help make it stand out of the crowd and appear more visible, Amazon has the title discounted by 33 percent with a $20 savings. If you're looking for a new World War II shooter and are on a budget, $40 for Hell's Highway doesn't sound too bad.

OMG at MotorStorm Pacific Rift commercial

Does it get any more EXTREME than this? A new PlayStation.blog post reveals the upcoming one minute ad for MotorStorm Pacific Rift -- and it involves people riding ATVs ... out of planes. The small text at the bottom warns you: "Do Not Attempt." We agree.

Another trailer, after the cut.

New Metal Gear shirts also good for MGO avatars

Say what now? You want Metal Gear t-shirts, but you only want them if your digital self in Metal Gear Online could have one too? Well then, look no further for Konami is bringing up just that ... in Japan. KonamiStyle is putting three new shirts out on the store in celebration of the new MGO Meme expansion. Along with each tee comes a voucher code which customers can use to download digital versions of the very shirt they've bought and stick it on their MGO characters.

If you're planning to import (if it's even possible), you'll want to know that the shirts costs ¥3,465 ($32) each. However, we're not entirely sure if the voucher code would function outside the Japanese version of the game; so it's probably best not to try. Still, have a look at the designs over at KonamiStyle. Maybe one day Konami will decide to bring stuff like this over Stateside.

Unreal Tournament III to get expansion

While nowhere as successful as Gears of War, Epic Games is working on an expansion to their multiplayer shooter, Unreal Tournament III. "We're working together on a major expansion that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base," Epic Games' VP Mark Reins told Gamespot.

No other specifics were provided, such as release date or format (DLC? Expansion pack disc?). Considering the game debuted on the PS3, we're going to keep our eyes peeled for any more info.

PS3 Fanboy impressions: FreeRealms

Sony Online Entertainment has promised a number of MMO games that will appear on PC and PS3. However, none of them have come to fruition quite yet. The most likely candidate for release appears to be FreeRealms, SOE's innovative MMO game. The game is almost reaching beta on the PC, and from what we've seen so far, it's shaping up to be a fun way for casual gamers to jump online into a safe online world. Best of all, FreeRealms' big gimmick: it's free.

This isn't meant to be a World of Warcraft-killer, and we think that's a good thing. By aiming for younger players (and their families), FreeRealms has crafted an intuitive, easy-to-read and use interface that looks charming. The UI takes advantage of easily identifiable icons, and the screen real estate is wisely used. This is great for the console player too: the large icons can be easily selected with a PS3 controller.

For better or for worse, FreeRealms tries to appeal to many by featuring a variety of mini-games. Unlike other MMO games, your character isn't tied to one class. You can be a Ninja, Explorer, Wizard -- whatever you want. In fact, you can change your class at any time, so that you're able to tackle each situation appropriately. The freedom to change classes gave the development team at SOE the opportunity to create a wide variety of gameplay modes, from racing to combat, to card battling and cooking. A universal experience points system makes it so that doing anything in the game will let you level up any aspect of your character, in any class mode.

Prince of Persia Classic available on PSN this Thursday

Prince of Persia Classic will be available on the PlayStation Network this Thursday. The downloadable game is a revamp of the original Prince of Persia 2D game, rendered in a new 3D engine. Not only are the character designs and animations new, there are newly added traps, puzzles and enemies. For those that enjoyed Bionic Commando Rearmed's 3D reinterpretation of a 2D classic, this might be worth a look.

SCE Australia giving away LittleBigPlanet with PS3 purchase

It's nice to know that not all recent LittleBigPlanet articles are depressing. This one should brighten up one's day -- or at least it will for the Aussies down under. SCE Australia plans to give away a no-strings-attached free copy of LittleBigPlanet with every PS3 purchased this holiday season. The promotion was supposed to begin on October 23, which was the original LBP launch date in Australia.

With LittleBigPlanet currently delayed, this promo will be effective starting at a later time. Australia has yet to have an official new release date finalized. Optimistically speaking, Australia's shouldn't be too far from Europe's release timeframe of "week of November 3."

Capcom to release Mega Man 9 DLC this Thursday

We feel bad for our old friend Mega Man. It looks like, in spite of being both a boy and a robot, he has somehow started to lactate. Why do we say that? Because Capcom is milking him for all he's worth. This Thursday, three new pieces of DLC will be available for this ever-growing retro-styled game. Will fans continue to shell out their dough?
  • Hard Mode – Dubbed Hero Mode in Japan, this mode enables you to play the entire game on an increased difficulty level with alternate enemy distribution and spawning points. Hard Mode is not compatible with Rankings or Challenges Modes.
  • Expert Mode – Dubbed Super Hero Mode Japan, this mode represents the apex of Mega Man 9 difficulty settings and is not for the novice Mega Man 9 player. This mode triples the level of difficulty from the default Mega Man 9 game. Expert Mode is not compatible with Rankings or Challenges Modes.
  • Special Time Attack Stage – This DLC gives you an additional stage for Time Attack Mode, complete with an all new level and Robot Master Boss, "Fake Man." Similar in difficulty to the Willy Stages, players will have a fun time tackling this time sensitive competitive stage. Special Time Attack Stage is not compatible with Challenge Mode.

Recalled LittleBigPlanet copies selling for up to $250

It makes us sick to our stomach to hear that people who've snagged early copies of the now recalled LittleBigPlanet are selling the coveted discs on eBay. To make matters worse, some of these resellers have an asking price for up to 400% over the MSRB at $250. That's a ridiculous extra amount to pay for a game that's not even delayed that long.

With a reworked October 27 release date for North America confirmed, and Europe guaranteed the title by the week of November 3, we urge gamers not to give into these appalling resellers and just wait out the extra few days. It's really not that long compared to other delays we've seen in the past.

Rumor: Sony working on rewards system for Trophy-getters

This is interesting and somewhat bizarre at the same time. According to the US Official PlayStation Magazine (via CVG), Sony might be working on a rewards system for Trophy-whores Trophy-hunters. The concept here involves getting another type of reward for obtaining the most difficult Trophies.

Apparently, earning a shiny graphic of a platinum Trophy isn't enough of an accolade; there has to be more.
US OPM suggests that the new rewards could be anything from early beta access, to free wallpapers and themes. As of right now, this is still a rumor. Take it with a grain of salt. If this does prove to be true, then Trophy grabbing seems to be an even more lucrative feature.

LittleBigPlanet out in Europe 'no later than' week of Nov. 3rd

Sony has seen fit to update us with a less vague (but not by much) release date for the Qur'an-tastic LittleBigPlanet in European territories. While the assumption was that the week-long delay in America would be mirrored in Europe (why wouldn't it?) it seems that may not be the case. The official line is that the game "will start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis."

"We appreciate all the enthusiasm surrounding this much anticipated title and we would like to thank PlayStation fans for their support and understanding," Sony continues. We're curious to know exactly what "no later than" means. Best case scenario is that the game will suffer only a week delay. Worst case is two weeks. Really, it could be worse. You could be stabbed.

[UPDATE] SCEE has confirmed that the UK release will now be November 5th. Now let's all forget about this LittleBigDelay and move on to other games for the next couple of weeks.
