Via TNR, National Review's Rich Lowry gives Sarah Palin's debate winks a rave review:

I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it.

See video of Palin's mesmerizing, man-straightening winks here.

Advice to Lowry: Don't try to masturbate and type at the same time; one of the two will suffer.

Remember when Fox News and O'Reilly were outraged that Chris Matthews (a "journalist" mind you) was blown away by Obama--by his speeches, his persona, his mere presence? So far, not a word from any Fox "journalist" about the "journalist" Rich Lowry. If they did and I missed it I'm sure it was with a wry smile and something about how Rich just got a little carried away.

So the juvenile winking set the GOP sycophants into a twitter. Utterly pathetic . . . .

Palin's wink gave was nauseating and Palin .
palin's wink was like a cheap hooker trying to drum up business.
Palin's lack of knowledge and wisdom make her more dangerous than any foreign enemy.
If you hate American and Freedom McCain-Palin is the one for you.

Obama =Freedom and prosperity.

peggy noonan, failing to find anything good to say about Palin, ended her column today by heaping instead words of praise to Palin surrogate, Tina FEY!

sorry i don't see it. this woman has no charm or charisma in my opinion.

there are plenty of "attractive" people out there who lack charisma and vice versa; obviously this guy doesn't know the difference.

I think Bill Buckley, the Intellectual Father of Conservatism, would be rolling over in his grave if he knew the kind of drivel his successor at the National Review was putting out.

If my daughter had behaved as Sarah Palin in order to get votes, I would have been appalled. Did Palin's parents not teach her about self-respect? Is she the teaser who cries "rape" after the deed is done? Does her behavior not offend her husband Todd? I am ashamed of McCain for allowing this woman to be on the ticket. The so-called vice presidential "debate" was a mockery. McCain/Palin insisted on the rules that did not allow the moderator or opponent to rebut. And people are actually proud of her performance? Let's raise our standards!!

Well done--thank you. As a professional women, I can't imagine conducting myself this way. Nor would I have worn stilettos/spikes to debate in.

I also find it appalling it's become acceptable and preferred to use so much colloquial speech in high office.

Lastly, "nuclear" is pronounced NEW-CLEE-ER!

I have no problem with Palin's heels.

I have a huge problem with her completely inappropriate behavior -- all the cutesy winking and pageant-entrant sparkly-smiles, those which seemed to drive Rich Lowry into an erotic stupor.

It was as gross as Dirty Bush giving an unwanted backrub to the female Chancellor of Germany & chewing with his mouth full and open at a formal dinner.

Eee-ew.

What else could Rich Lowry say? He could not comment on what she said at the debate because she did not say anything.

I cannot say anything really bad about Palin because I don't want her to be forced off the ticket. She is and will continue to be a gift to all Democrats. As a liberal Democrat all my life I can say that I love Palin just as much as Rich Lowry... although for vastly different reasons.

Also, Palin will NOT get the Polar Bear vote!

McCain/Palin the bridge to vagabond.
Keep your eye on a person who winks at you!

Proverbs 6:11-14
Your poverty will come in like a vagabond
And your need like an armed man.
A worthless person, a wicked man/woman,
Is the one who walks with a perverse mouth,
Who winks with his/her eyes, who signals with his feet,Who points with his/her fingers;
Who with perversity in his heart continually devises evil,Who spreads strife.

"Her first wink; Her smile; So sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. Little starbursts through the screen; ricocheting around the living room."

Is Lowry as gay as he appears?

'Oh, all those little "starbursts." And that "richocheting." '

So gay.

Lowry is a flamer, always has been. The Michael Jackson of conservative "thought". He is just trying to prove his hetero bona fides in a most embarrassing way.

But it does give me an idea -- to start a website, "jerkoffs for Palin-McCain". Let's do it and make it viral. List all the wankers for the "winker" team.

I'm just asking-Why aren't people offended by Palin's phony "you betcha, gosh darn it" act? I keep hearing that she speaks this way to connect with people and that it works. Why does it work when it seems as if she only uses this mocking dialect when it suits her? Do people really like being referred to as Joe Six Pack? Isn't winking often a sign that one person is pulling the wool over the eyes of another? Why do people read these signs as authentic instead of deceptive and dismissive?

Does it feel good to people because they feel as if they are somehow in on the joke? What happens when the joke is on all of us?

They are she hasnt been able to cut into Obama's lead. I guess the American people know Phony BS when they hear it and see it. AFterall they have had 8 years to hone their skills so these Pundits can gush about Palin until the cows come home. THe AMerican KNOW she is PHONY as they come. Her popularity in Alaska is SINKING like Lead tossed from a 100 storye window. Once you expose the Palin mystique there is nothing there. Infact I've heard quite a few women say Palin is an insult to women.

Rich Lowry looks like the type of guy parents tell their kids to stay away from.

I've always thought there was something really icky about him - and his adolescent gushing response to Palin's 'winking' just told me why.

GObama/Biden '08/'12!
