Here are two very cool news items dealing with the movie soundtrack:

First, we get to exclusively unveil Perry Farrell's song, "Go All The Way (into the Twilight)" for your listening enjoyment. As you know, this song will be part of the official Twilight soundtrack (in-stores November 4th). [Click on the play button on the audio player below to listen]

[If you see this message, you may need to upgrade your Flash plugin in order to listen to the song. Click here to download the Adobe Flash Player.]

In other awesome soundtrack news, we have just learned that the music video for Paramore's "Decode" will be premiering on November 3rd! You can watch it all day on MTV, MTV2, MTVu, and MTV.com. Make sure to check MTV.com leading up to the premiere to see exclusive snippets and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video.

Take a look at these exclusive stills from the video below!

If you haven't already done so, click here to pre-order the official Twilight the movie soundtrack!

And if you don't want to wait another twelve days for the soundtrack — don't forget about the soundtrack listening parties this Friday in Hot Topic stores (see October 16th posting below for details).

October 16, 2008

I just received the following announcement from Elizabeth:

"Exclusive Twilight Listening Parties at Hot Topic stores:

Be one of the first people to hear the entire Twilight soundtrack (in-stores November 4th). Hot Topic will be hosting exclusive listening parties at all of their locations on Friday, October 24th at 7pm. They'll be playing every song, including the previously unreleased songs from Paramore, Rob Pattinson, Perry Farrell and Mutemath, PLUS hear the unveiling of "Bella's Lullaby".

Hot Top is also offering 10% off your Twilight purchase at the event and you can preorder the soundtrack to get a special gift. If you aren't near a Hot Topic, you can still preorder the soundtrack by clicking here."

While I'm posting, I thought I would let you know that The Twilight Saga Box Set (which contains all four hardcover books) has been officially released as is currently shipping. Also, although Twilight: The Complete Illustrated Movie Companion was not supposed to be released until the end of the month, Amazon.com is apparently shipping the books already. I just thought you would like to know (you can click on the images below to order them if you haven't already).

The final trailer for Twilight the movie is now available to view. You can watch the HD version at the MySpace.com Trailer Park or the regular version in the widget at TwilightTheMovie.com. Also, we added another new movie poster to the movie page. Enjoy the trailer, and have a great weekend.

In case you haven't seen it, here is the new movie poster that was released sometime yesterday:

October 6, 2008

Elizabeth (Stephenie's publicist) just sent me this awesome news (containing an announcement that is exclusive to StephenieMeyer.com):

"We are excited that we've been given the exclusive track list announcement for the Twilight soundtrack (in stores November 4th). We can also confirm that every song listed below will also be featured IN the Twilight movie. The soundtrack has exclusive songs written specifically for the movie from Paramore and Perry Ferrell. The Twilight soundtrack also features a song from Robert Pattinson—this is the first time Rob has recorded or released music. And, of course, no Twilight project would be complete without Muse.

Here is the official track listing:

  1. Muse — Supermassive Black Hole
  2. Paramore — Decode
  3. The Black Ghosts — Full Moon
  4. Linkin Park — Leave Out All The Rest
  5. MuteMath — Spotlight (Twilight Mix)
  6. Perry Farrell — Go All The Way (Into The Twilight)
  7. Collective Soul — Tremble For My Beloved
  8. Paramore — I Caught Myself
  9. Blue Foundation — Eyes On Fire
  10. Rob Pattinson — Never Think
  11. Iron & Wine — Flightless Bird, American Mouth
  12. Carter Burwell — Bella's Lullaby

Click here to pre-order the soundtrack."

A couple more items: First, the final two parts of the four part series "The Making of The Resolution" have been embedded on our The Resolution page. Second, the official movie site (TwilightTheMovie.com) now has a list of international release dates for the movie. During the past several months I have received approximately 300,000 emails (yes, that is a slight exaggeration) asking about the release dates in other countries. So, I am happy to announce that if you click the link above and then click "Worldwide Release Dates" on the menu on the left, you will see all of the dates that have been announced at this point.

I hope everyone has a great day!

October 3, 2008

Summit has let us know that there will be a new, final trailer for TWILIGHT coming soon! It will be debuting in theatres on Friday, October 10th in front of certain movies (it is at the discretion of the individual theatres). There will also be a sneak peak of the new trailer on Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, October 9th. Immediately following the sneak peak, Summit is letting the fans be the first to see the trailer online in its entirety and share it.

What you need to know:

  • You can see the trailer first online before it's officially released, via the Twilight widget. If you don't have the widget, you can grab it from the official film site at TwilightTheMovie.com.
  • The trailer will be available exclusively via the widget starting at 8:00 PM PST on October 9th for one hour, before launching in HD on MySpace at 9:00 PM PST.
  • A countdown clock will be added to the widget shortly, counting down to this highly anticipated event.

Stay tuned for more exciting movie news!

I definitely agree with the many comments I have read about the music video for "The Resolution" by Jack's Mannequin: both the video and the song are extremely good. We have been given some extras by the band, and I thought that everyone would enjoy seeing them. It is "The Making of The Resolution", and you can find the first two parts of the four part series here below the original video. The next two clips will be posted on our site in the next couple of days when they become available. I hope you enjoy them!

October 1, 2008

We are excited to have the exclusive unveiling of Paramore's "Decode" — the official single from the Twilight soundtrack (in-stores November 4th—please note new on-sale date).

[Audio player moved to the movie page (October 1st post).]

Hayley Williams from Paramore is a huge Twilight fan and recently talked about her love of the books and the song's title:

"Twilight is the first series of books I've ever read. I didn't get into the Harry Potter series even though I love the movies. Twilight really caught my attention and held it. I'm really excited to see the book adapted to film and excited that our band gets to be a part of the phenomenon. I chose the title "Decode" because the song is about the building tension, awkwardness, anger and confusion between Bella and Edward. Bella's is the only mind Edward can't read and I feel like that's a big part of the first book and one of the obstacles for them to overcome. It's one added tension that makes the story even better." -- Hayley Williams, Paramore

Although the names of the other songs/artists which will be included on the soundtrack will not be released for a few more days, it is already available for pre-order. Click here to pre-order the official Twilight the movie soundtrack! Stay tuned for more soundtrack news.

About a month ago we announced that Stephenie would be involved in the production of a music video. The video for the new single "The Resolution" by Jack's Mannequin was Stephenie's concept, but she insists that the success of the video was largely due to Noble Jones' awesome directing. Click here to see the music video for "The Resolution":

September 17, 2008

People often ask me for reading suggestions, and I'm always happy to share because books are exciting things to me. My latest excitement is this: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I was so obsessed with this book I had to take it with me out to dinner and hide it under the edge of the table so I wouldn't have to stop reading. The story kept me up for several nights in a row, because even after I was finished, I just lay in bed wide awake thinking about it. I've been recommending it to total strangers in Target. And now to everyone who reads my website. The Hunger Games is amazing.

September 16, 2008

Good news — Stephenie will be on The Ellen DeGeneres Show tomorrow, Wednesday, September 17th! To find out what time the show airs in your area, click here to use their cool map and schedule. I hope you enjoy the show!

A few weeks ago we announced the new editions and books coming out in the next few months. Only two of them currently have release dates on Amazon.com, so I thought I would post links to those two so that you can read what they're all about. The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide comes out at the end of December, and Twilight (Mass Market Paperback) comes out on October 28, 2008. And, speaking of the Twilight Saga, if you haven't ever been to Borders Twilight Saga page, and you have some time to kill, I would suggest checking out some of their exclusive videos.

And one final link... the Twilight READ Poster is being sold by the American Library Association. A lot of people have asked me about posters in the past, and I thought that this one is very cool.

Have a great day!

September 1, 2008

Stephenie has posted the Frequently Asked Questions for Breaking Dawn. Please note that this FAQ page is full of spoilers, so if you haven't finished reading Breaking Dawn yet, I would encourage you to resist the urge to click the link.

Also, I realized that many of you probably didn't notice that Stephenie posted the Midnight Sun Playlist the other night at the same time that she posted her statement and the partial draft.

A few 'webmaster' notes: (1) The playlist.com music players on each of the playlist pages are not perfect. Many are missing songs that are unavailable, and some songs stop working from time to time. I will do my best to keep up with them, but please remember that they are flawed. And (2) the email address listed on the webmaster page is still just for problems with the site. I was asked a long time ago by Stephenie's publicist not to forward emails in order to free up more time for Stephenie to write or be with her family. I apologize for any inconvenience this creates.

Have a great day!

--Seth

August 28, 2008 (part II)

As some of you may have heard, my partial draft of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the Internet and has since been virally distributed without my knowledge or permission or the knowledge or permission of my publisher.

I have a good idea of how the leak happened as there were very few copies of Midnight Sun that left my possession and each was unique. Due to little changes I made to the manuscript at different times, I can tell when each left my possession and to whom it was given. The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution.

I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited and published. I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being. As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers. Just because someone buys a book or movie or song, or gets a download off the Internet, doesn't mean that they own the right to reproduce and distribute it. Unfortunately, with the Internet, it is easy for people to obtain and share items that do not legally belong to them. No matter how this is done, it is still dishonest. This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control.

So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

I'd rather my fans not read this version of Midnight Sun. It was only an incomplete draft; the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting? It has taken me a while to decide how and if I could respond. But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here (at the end of this message on the Midnight Sun page). This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest. I hope this fragment gives you further insight into Edward's head and adds a new dimension to the Twilight story. That's what inspired me to write it in the first place.

I do want to take a moment and thank the wonderful fans who have been so supportive of me over the past three years. I cannot begin to tell you how much each of you means to me. I only hope this note will stop all the confusion and online speculation so that the Twilight universe can once again become the happy escape it used to be. After this incredibly busy year, I am now focusing on spending more time with my family and working on some other writing projects.

August 28, 2008

I hope you have a few minutes... several days have passed since our last update and we have many new items to discuss.

First, as many of you may have heard in the last few hours, Stephenie will be participating in the creation of a new music video for Jack's Mannequin (one of the bands which appears on her playlists). MTV News is reporting that she will "direct the video for 'The Resolution,' the first single from JM's upcoming album The Glass Passenger (due September 30)." Click here to read the article. The article speaks of the "treatment" that Stephenie is writing: for those of you who are not familiar with the term, here is a good link to explain it. I recently spoke to Stephenie and she mentioned that she is thrilled that Jack's Mannequin invited her to be a part of the video creation process for their new single. She loves the band and the song, and this is an amazing creative opportunity for her.

As if that weren't enough cool news for one night, those who were unable to catch any of the Breaking Dawn Concert Series events can now view the NYC concert on iClips.net. The LA event should be uploaded to their site very soon, and we will try to mention it on our site when it is there.

Moving on... the new titles and editions in the Twilight Saga that were announced by Elizabeth in June are currently available for pre-order (they will be released in the next few months). Here are links if you want to pre-order any of the books:

And finally, I have updated a couple of pages on the site because of popular demand. Many people insisted that we add the motorcycles to the Cullen Cars page, which we have done. Also, about a hundred people have emailed me asking us to post the Eclipse Quotes of the Day. I think that some people had a lot of fun finding the quotes in Breaking Dawn; if that isn't the reason that people want the Eclipse quotes, I have no idea why people want to see these quotes — we are just trying to keep everyone happy. Anyway, they are posted here. Enjoy!

Movie News Flash!

So, many of you have heard that the release of the sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has been moved from this Thanksgiving to next summer. First and foremost, please know that this schedule change has absolutely nothing to do with Twilight, me, or Summit Films (so enough with the imdb death wishes, okay?). This is Warner Bros. decision, and it was not motivated by anything Twilight-related.

Now for the good news! Though we're all sad to have to wait for Harry Potter, this open spot at the theater creates a cool opportunity. The good people at Summit were thrilled to let me know that now Twilight fans are going to get their movie three weeks earlier than scheduled. That's right—Twilight will be released in theaters November 21st! Let the merry-making commence!

--Stephenie

August 9, 2008

I have added the Breaking Dawn Midnight Release Party Pictures under the 'Breaking Dawn' submenu of the 'Twilight Series' tab. Thanks to everyone who submitted their pictures. Also, due to the many emails which I have received with an update request, and with a little bit of help from my brothers, I have updated the Cullen Cars page. I hope you enjoy both pages.

For anybody that is into statistics and rankings, here are some impressive links regarding sales of Stephenie's novels (and not just for Breaking Dawn): USA Today's Best Sellers, Wall Street Journal Best-Sellers, WSJ Fiction Book Index, and on Amazon.com BD is still holding the #1 position. Congratulations, Steph!

--Seth

August 7, 2008

If you are trying to watch the BD Concert Series event right now, I guess I should let you know that the start time was somehow changed and it will now be starting at 8pm PDT (11pm EDT). Sorry for the confusion (nobody notified me, so in my opinion, it technically isn't my fault), but I hope you enjoy the show.

--Seth

August 6, 2008

Don't forget about the Breaking Dawn Concert Series event in L.A. tomorrow night (August 7th). The live broadcast will start at 7:00pm PDT (10:00pm EDT), and as far as I know, this will be your last chance to watch one of the events. Remember, it can be viewed on iClips.net or EW.com. The NYC event last week was very good — I would recommend tuning in.

--Seth

August 4, 2008 (part II)

Sorry if I am interrupting anyone's reading time, but I just have a few items:

If you missed Stephenie on CBS Sunday Morning, click here to read the story. Also, several people have asked about the sales of Breaking Dawn. Here is a quote from an article posted yesterday on USAToday.com: "The Hachette Book Group estimates 1.3 million copies were sold on Saturday after being released at 12:01 a.m. It was its largest first-day sales record. In anticipation of demand, an additional 500,000 copies were printed before publication, bringing the total to 3.7 million." For those of us who have been fans of the Twilight Saga since the beginning, it is incredible to ponder how quickly the popularity has increased. I think it is awesome that so many people are now able to participate in the world of Twilight.

Anyway... a few people have sent me pictures from their Breaking Dawn Release Parties, and I decided that it was a pretty good idea to start a page similar to the Eclipse Prom page. So, send your favorite BD release party pictures to bdparties@gmail.com by about noon this Saturday (August 9th), and I will post a few of the best ones on the site for everyone to enjoy.

And, as many of you have requested, I have added the playlist.com player to the Breaking Dawn Playlist. Enjoy!

--Seth

August 4, 2008

As promised, the original color scheme has returned to the home page. I know that many of you did not like the BD color scheme, but I grew rather attached to it, so you will still find it on a few pages throughout the website.

Elizabeth asked me to post the following:
"For those attending the remaining three Breaking Dawn Concert Series events, please see below for autographing guidelines:

  • Each attendee is allowed to bring ONE Stephenie Meyer novel from home (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn or The Host).
  • Books will not be sold at the events.
  • Stephenie will sign one book per person, she will only be signing her name—no messages or personalizations are allowed.
  • There are no substitutions for the book—if you do not have a Stephenie Meyer novel to be signed you will not be allowed in line. She will not be able to sign posters, t-shirts, etc.
  • No cameras allowed during the autographing.

Attendees in Chicago and Seattle will be able to submit questions upon arrival (due to the number of attendees, restrictions do apply on the number of questions able to be submitted, this will be on a first-come, first-serve basis).

Questions for Stephenie in Los Angeles will be submitted through iClips.net (see panther.iclips.net/breakingdawn for texting information)."

I hope that everyone is having a good time reading Breaking Dawn. The Quotes of the Day are obviously over, but if you want to go back and look at them they will be here.

--Seth

August 2, 2008

I hope that everyone that attended a midnight release party last night had as much fun as I did. Stephenie has said many times that her fans are the best in the world, and I definitely agree. The enthusiasm and excitement — it was really entertaining to be able to see it (and hear it... my ears are still ringing from the intense screams that pierced the air starting at about 11:55pm). If you didn't have the chance to go, you should Google it and see some pictures or watch some videos; it really was a good time.

Speaking of good times, the first event of the BD Concert Series seemed to be a huge success. Congratulations to Stephenie and Justin Furstenfeld (from Blue October). If you missed it, I would suggest catching the next broadcasted event, which will be on August 7th (I will repost the links and times of the streaming video in a few days).

Tomorrow morning (Sunday, August 3rd) Stephenie will appear on CBS News Sunday Morning. Click here to see a list of stations and the air times of the show.

And finally, the news that you have all been waiting for: I have posted Stephenie's Breaking Dawn Playlist. [Note: Stephenie's playlists have been known to give away a lot from the books, which is why she waited until now to post it. If you don't have your copy of Breaking Dawn yet (or you haven't finished it), you might want to think twice about looking at and listening to the playlist. That is just my personal advice.] Enjoy!

August 1, 2008 (part II)

If you are having problems viewing the Concert Series event, try this link.

--Seth

August 1, 2008

Only about 6 hours left until midnight! As many of you can probably tell, I am not usually one to show a lot of emotion, but I literally can't wait until I can buy and start reading my copy of Breaking Dawn tonight. And I know that a lot of you are even more excited than I am.

Elizabeth wanted me to post that "iClips.net is going to rebroadcast the event at 9:30pm EST and again at midnight EST. The event will be available On Demand sometime early next week." I will post that information when they send it to me. For those of you who are not aware, tonight's Breaking Dawn Concert Series event in New York City will be broadcast live at 7:00pm EST (4:00pm PST) at the following links: EW.com and iClips.net. It will then be rebroadcast at 9pm EST (possibly 9:30pm—I have received conflicting information) and 12am (midnight) EST on both sites.

Once again, if you are going to a midnight release party tonight, have fun and be very safe.

--Seth

July 31, 2008 (part II)

In case you missed Stephenie on Good Morning America today, click here to view the interview (which was very good). Also, here is the link to watch the Breaking Dawn Concert series on EW.com tomorrow night (it is the same presentation which will be shown on iClips.net). Both sites will also show the event on August 7th.

While this is a little off-topic, many of you have asked me about obtaining copies of the recent issue of Entertainment Weekly which included articles about Stephenie and Twilight the movie. Due to the high demand, EW has decided to print more and is offering them for purchase here.

--Seth

P.S. — There are about 27 hours left until the release of Breaking Dawn! (Yep, hours).

July 31, 2008

If you are still looking for something to pass the remaining hours that we have left to wait, here is the link to the USA Today article that I mentioned yesterday. Also, click here to read a recent article about Stephenie in Variety magazine.

For those fans in the UK that are looking for Breaking Dawn release day events, click here to go to the UK publisher site. And, as a reminder, you can find US events by going to TheTwilightSaga.com's event locator. For those of you planning to attend midnight parties, I would like to remind you that trying to read the book while driving home is not considered safe driving. My recommendation is to leave Breaking Dawn in the bag until you get home. Have a fun and safe night.

And finally, speaking of Friday night, we have a little more information about where to view the streaming video presentation of the Breaking Dawn concert series event in New York City. We have already discussed that it will be shown at iClips.net, but now you will also be able to view the event at EW.com (I will post the link as soon as I get it).

--Seth

July 30, 2008

Two days left!

Stephenie will appear on Good Morning America tomorrow: Thursday, July 31st. They are currently taking questions on their website, and the questions which are picked will be answered during the live show tomorrow morning. Click here to submit your question, and be sure to tune in the morning so that you can see Stephenie discuss Breaking Dawn. Also, be sure to pick up a copy of tomorrow's USA Today where Stephenie will be on the cover of the Life section.

July 28, 2008

I figured that if Seth the werewolf got a quote today, Seth the webmaster should post something, too (and yes, that will be the last time I will ever talk about myself in the third person). After reading several blog comments and emails, I have realized that many of you are suffering from a disease known in the medical community as "B.D. Countdownitis." The main symptom is staring at the countdown on the right side of this page for several minutes at a time. Countdownitis patients seem to believe that by gazing intently at the milliseconds, the number of days remaining until the release of Breaking Dawn will miraculously decrease. One of the only known cures is finding something interesting to read on the Internet. For this reason, I have found several good articles about Stephenie and her books written in the past few days to help you pass the time (without staring at the milliseconds pass by):

By the way—only four more days!

--Seth

July 23, 2008

I just received two messages tonight. The first message is from Elizabeth: "For those who aren't going to Comic Con, fear not! EW.com will be posting an exclusive interview with Stephenie on Friday morning at www.ew.com/comiccon." --Elizabeth

The second message is from Stephenie: "We only have a few days until the release of Breaking Dawn. To reward all of you for being so patient, I have confirmed exclusively with Entertainment Weekly one thing that happens in Breaking Dawn — and it will be posted at EW.com on Monday. As you all know, I'm against spoilers, but I know there is a desire for ANYTHING about the book. But please proceed to EW.com with caution. This is truly the only thing I am comfortable with being out before August 2nd, so this in no way gives anybody free reign to post spoilers. Let's keep the rest of the book secret — we can do it!" --Steph

July 21, 2008

Once again, we have several announcements. Announcement #1: only 11 more days!

Also, be sure to visit the MTV Movies Blog for Twilight Tuesday tomorrow. MTV is announcing how to submit questions for Stephenie to answer at the New York Breaking Dawn Concert Series event. Start thinking of questions (no spoilers though!). And, while you're checking out movie news, the LA Times posted more photos from the set of Twilight on their Hollywood Backlot.

For those of you who are going to Comic Con this week, I have received information about the Twilight autographing. I have posted it here on the calendar page. If you don't know anything about Comicon [that makes two of us], you can just skip this link (because it is too late to register — it isn't my fault, Summit never sent me the information).

Now, I have to reply to some very common questions that I have been emailed over the last few weeks. First, for bookstores that have contacted me about getting your midnight release parties/events on the event locator on TheTwilightSaga.com, please contact your Hachette Book Group sales rep. That is the official response, and I thought it would be easier to post it here than to write emails back to all of you. Second, since many very hopeful fans have asked me when they will know if they won the contest, I thought I would let you know that the winners of the BD Concert Series Sweepstakes were notified last week. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this means that if you weren't contacted last week, you didn't win. Sorry.

That was a bit depressing, and I feel like I should end on a happy note. So... only 11 days left!

--Seth

July 18, 2008

As you can see, we have less than 15 days left until the release of Breaking Dawn! [side note: I can't solve problems with the countdown other than replacing it or taking it off the site, so emails about countdown problems are not necessary]. On TheTwilightSaga.com, they have recently added a new feature to help everyone find Breaking Dawn Midnight Release Parties. Click here to view the event locator (all you have to do is enter your zip code to find the nearest party).

In additional exciting Twilight Saga news, Summit Entertainment has released another teaser trailer for Twilight the movie. Click here to view the trailer at Yahoo Movies.

Finally, I have been asked to make an announcement for TwilightTeez.com. They will begin selling their Bella's Engagement Rings at 3pm EDT on July 18th. Their site is currently down as they switch to a new server, but they are planning on having the site back up very soon. [edit: I have been informed that the on-sale date is actually July 19th. Also, their site is currently up and running.]

--Seth

July 12, 2008

Today is the first day of the Breaking Dawn Quotes of the Day! We hope that everyone has as much fun this year as they did last year with the Eclipse Quotes of the Day. Have fun trying to figure out the context of the quotes! (although I too will be developing my own theories (I have to wait until August 2nd just like everybody else), please don't write me with yours as I am still trying to keep my inbox reserved for website mistakes or problems). Also, if you forget to come to our site one day and miss a quote, you will never, ever know what it was. Just kidding... we will be posting all the Quotes of the Day here.

Also, I have re-posted Stephenie's message about spoiler control on the Breaking Dawn page where it will stay at the top of the page. With all of our recent news, Stephenie's publicist wants to make sure that everyone (even those who are afraid of scrolling down on this page) has a chance to read it. They also added to the message that we should all remember that the fans outside of North America have to wait until August 4th, and they don't want the story to be spoiled any more than anyone else.

--Seth

July 11, 2008

Lots of good news today:

Here is a link to the article about Twilight the movie that came out in this week's edition of Entertainment Weekly. We want to thank them for giving us an early look at the cover on Wednesday. And, something even cooler that they included in this issue: a great article [about our favorite author] entitled "Stephenie Meyer: Inside the 'Twilight' Saga". I would encourage everybody to head over to their website to read both these articles (not that you need my encouragement)—not just because they are both very good, but also to support the cool people who are going out of their way to accommodate those of us who are fans of the series. [edit: I have received several emails informing me that this issue of EW doesn't actually make it to newsstands until next Friday. I am very sorry for the confusion, but you can still read the articles online][edit to the previous edit: Even more people have emailed me to tell me that the magazine is already in newsstands and they have purchased it. Apparently it has a lot to do with location, so if you can already buy it—great! If not, be patient and it will show up in the next week]

In other fantastic news, the USAToday released their second quarter report of book sales which shows all four of Stephenie's books in the top 7 overall. This week's best sellers shows more good news, with Twilight and New Moon taking the #1 and #2 spots. Congratulations, Stephenie!

Here is a message from Stephenie:

A quick note about the release of 'Penelope' on DVD this coming Tuesday the 15th:

In case you haven't heard yet, the 'Penelope' DVD features the world premiere of a scene from 'Twilight'. It will also feature some great behind the scenes footage and interviews from 'Twilight'.

And even if it didn't have the 'Twilight' content, Penelope is definitely worth picking up. It's easily the most adorable, feel good movie I've seen this year. (Not to mention oodles of delicious James McAvoy-dian goodness. Mmmm!)

You thought that was all the good news? Ha! I'm just getting started. The Fantasy Book Critic is doing another book give-a-way, and this time it consists of three sets of all four books in the Twilight series. Feeling lucky? Head over to his site to sign up. Good luck!

Finally, Stephenie has just informed me this morning that, back by popular demand, we will once again have the Quotes of the Day! For those of you who don't remember the Eclipse Quotes of the Day, we will post a quote from Breaking Dawn for 21 days counting down to the release of the book on August 2nd. This will start tomorrow and will be posted on this page sometime in the morning. So, that is the last piece of good news... only 22 days left!

Head to your newsstands this Friday to pick up the latest Entertainment Weekly with TWILIGHT on the cover! Entertainment Weekly wanted to give the fans a first look at the cover (and they have given us permission to let fansites know they can post it as well!). The article inside has Stephenie's FIRST BREAKING DAWN interview (don't worry, no spoilers!). Head over to the movie page to view the cover. [edit: image was moved because my OCD requires that all movie pictures stay together on the movie page. Sorry.]

(This is from Stephenie, so don't just skip over it thinking that it is another boring message from the webmaster.)

It's almost August, and I'm counting down to the release of Breaking Dawn just as anxiously as you are! I can't wait to finally be able to discuss everything that happens in Breaking Dawn with you. I want to give a heads up to everyone going to the Breaking Dawn Concert Series events in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle: I am going to talk about it all, so bring earplugs if you haven't finished reading Breaking Dawn by then! (If you're going to the first event in New York, it will be spoiler free.)

Speaking of spoilers, I want to ask you guys for a favor. As we saw with Eclipse (not to mention that last Harry Potter book), there is always the potential for copies of the book to be leaked early. My publisher is doing everything they can to prevent this, but there is only so much that can be done. This is the favor: if someone, somewhere, somehow, gets a copy early, I'm asking you to please not post any spoilers on the Internet. And if you see something, please don't spread it around. Breaking Dawn was meant to be experienced in a certain way, and I would hate for someone to get that experience ruined by seeing something online they didn't want to see. My fans have been super cool about this in the past—last year in particular you guys went above and beyond to protect Eclipse until the release date—and I hope that we'll have the same positive experience this year.

If somebody does post a spoiler (and remember there will be a lot of hoaxes out there—do not believe everything you read: Bella gets eaten by a polar bear, anyone?), I'd love your help in getting them taken down. My publisher has set up a special e-mail account, bdcopyrightviolation@hbgusa.com, for fans to alert us to spoilers that appear online. PLEASE only send links to spoilers. E-mails about events, contacting me, etc. will not be returned.

Another thing you may notice close to the release of Breaking Dawn is that the message boards on several fansites will be taken down. They are doing this as a favor to me because I want to protect you all from stumbling upon something that could ruin the book for you. There will be plenty of time to discuss all the details of the book after August 2nd.

Finally, I don't think I could ever thank all of you enough for being so devoted to this series. You've proved over and over again that you are the best fans in the world. I hope that together we can make sure everybody gets to experience Breaking Dawn the way it was intended — on August 2nd [or the 4th if you live outside North America].

We're almost there!

The link I posted yesterday was the wrong link (by one letter... sorry!). Here is the correct one: www.thetwilightsaga.com/contest/. It is a contest with some very exciting prizes. Good luck to everyone!

June 25, 2008

The Breaking Dawn Concert Series is officially sold out (all four events). Elizabeth notified me that the Seattle event sold out today, and in the same email she mentioned that everyone "should be on the lookout for a very special fan announcement tomorrow at www.thetwilightsaga.com/contests." I have no idea what this is about — the only hint she included with this mysterious message is that (and I quote) "it MIGHT have something to do with the Concert Series." See, I told you it was mysterious. So don't forget to check the link above on Thursday.

Also, while I'm here, I guess I should answer some common questions about Breaking Dawn extras/material on our website. As of today, Stephenie does not anticipate that the publishing company will give us permission to post the first chapter until after the book comes out (only 37 days left!). Similarly, we will not post the BD playlist until after the book is released. For those of you who have listened to the four other playlists, you know that it would give away too much to release it early.

Speaking of those four playlists, I have added Playlist.com music players below the list of songs on each page. There are no new songs, but I thought that this feature would be helpful to those of you who haven't heard some of the songs. The lists aren't perfect (the site did not have every single song), and I can't help much with troubleshooting. If you want to check them out but you are so lazy that you won't use the tabs and side menu, here are the links: Twilight Playlist, New Moon Playlist, Eclipse Playlist, The Host Playlist. I hope that you enjoy the new feature.

This just in from Elizabeth:

The New York, Chicago and Los Angeles events for the Breaking Dawn Concert Series are sold out. Just a reminder, for those who couldn't get tickets or aren't near a venue, iClips.net will be broadcasting the New York and Los Angeles events in their entirety online.

June 19, 2008

Three days in a row! Is that some kind of StephenieMeyer.com record? I'll check with our statistician. Elizabeth has another message full of more good news:

"A reminder that tickets for the Breaking Dawn Concert Series goes on-sale this Saturday (ticket details can be found on the calendar page). These events will sell out quickly—so be sure to get your tickets as soon as they go on-sale!

We've got some exciting news to announce for those who aren't close to the venues: iClips Network, one of the premier online webcasters, will produce a live webcast of the entire New York City event on August 1st AND the Los Angeles event on August 7th on iClips.net. The events will be broadcast live and will be on the iClips site afterwards for you to enjoy at your convenience. And please note, this will be available to all of Stephenie's fans around the world. To be able to view the event, you just need to sign-up (it's easy and FREE! All you have to do is click on the 'join now' button in the top right corner of their site and give them a little bit of information)."

This is very exciting news. I will post the link again a few days before the events. Have a great day, everybody!

The following is a message from Elizabeth:

"As some of you may have seen, a few fansites have posted a scanned brochure on upcoming titles in the Twilight Saga that was given out at a recent publishing trade show. The information in that brochure was never confirmed or final and the information contained in the brochure was never meant for the general public. We can, however, announce the following titles that will be coming out this fall in connection with the Twilight Saga:

  • Twilight Saga Collection Box Set: Box set containing all four novels in the Twilight Saga (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn), including four limited-edition prints (October 2008; $83.00)
  • Twilight Collector's Edition: Deluxe hardcover edition of Twilight, housed in a slipcase, includes a ribbon bookmark and newly-designed chapter openers (October 2008; $30.00)
  • Twilight Mass Market Movie tie-in: a mass market is a smaller size paperback, it will feature movie art on the cover (November 2008; $7.99)
  • Twilight Trade Paperback Movie tie-in: this is the size of the current Twilight paperback, but it is being repackaged with movie art and will have a full-color movie poster inside (November 2008; $10.99)

Just a reminder that any publishing information that does not appear on thetwilightsaga.com or StephenieMeyer.com should not be considered confirmed or accurate."

As soon as these editions become available for pre-order we will post links on our site. I also want to add a couple of random items:

  • First, don't forget that pre-sales start tomorrow for the New York City show of the Breaking Dawn Concert Series, and tickets for all four events go on sale this Saturday (see the calendar page for details).
  • Also, I know that some of you have had some problems receiving the RSS updates. Certain feed readers are not picking up the new posts and I'm having a hard time figuring it out. But, I am working on a long-term solution, so those of you who like RSS feeds please bear with me and I promise I'll come through for you in the next few months. Thanks for your patience.
