The procedure is still underway and alibis of persons reported to the police by citizens are being checked.
It was stated at the press conference that the identities of persons brought in for questioning would not be revealed, seeing how that move would break the law on the protection of the identity of possible witnesses and their lives would be threatened, which could harm the investigation.
Borovec said that co-operation with neighbouring security forces was intense. When asked about the reports that circle in the media about delicate and important information for the investigation, like the serial number of the moped which was on the crime scene, Borovec replied once again that similar writings will not be commented or denied, adding that there is a line of delicate and key information known only to a narrow circle of inspectors and the perpetrators.

Additionally, Borovec looked back on Croatian President Stjepan Mesic`s “advice” for Mirjana Pukanic to be interviewed “because she would surely help in finding her husband`s killer”, saying the investigators who are working on the case will decide on further interviews, after they are prepared for it.
- You cannot face someone without being prepared. Once the investigation is in that stage that Mrs. Pukanic needs to be examined, the investigators will do it. There is an order and methods according to which police work is conducted – Borovec said.
- You will notice from tomorrow that many more police officials will be on the streets than until now. Their duty will be to uphold peace and prevent possible crimes. 250 police officers are in question who were deployed from nearby police departments, where there is lesser necessity for such a number of people – Borovec concluded.
