Phillies-Rays Game 5 talking points
* The second half of the game was played in a steady downpour. That created less than ideal conditions for a potential elimination game - or any game for that matter - and the grounds crew worked feverishly between innings to keep the dirt areas playable.
* It shouldn't have been a surprise that Shane Victorino delivered a bases-loaded single in the first inning. He was 6-for-12 (.500) with one walk and 13 RBI with the sacks full this year, including that big grand slam against Milwaukee's CC Sabathia in the National League Division Series.
* Rays manager Joe Maddon dropped first baseman Carlos Pena and third baseman Eva Longoria to fourth and fifth in the order, respectively. They were a combined 0-for-31 with 15 strikeouts before Pena doubled and Longoria singled to produce Tampa Bay's first run in the fourth.
* Phillies lefthander Pat Burrell is 0-for-13 in the World Series.
* Phillies lefthander Cole Hamels gave up a run in the sixth, possibly costing himself a chance to go 5-0 in the postseason.
* Commissioner Bud Selig said no thought is being given to playing the rest of Game 5 in Tropicana Field or a neutral site if inclement weather continues in Philadelphia. "We'll stay here till Thanksgiving, if necessary," he vowed.
