 You
have the opportunity to change the direction of this country. Right now,
we have the most powerful military in the world but we have not made the
world a more peaceful place. I believe the war in Iraq was a mistake. I
believe George Bush lied and intentionally misled our country into an
unnecessary war. Republican and Democratic political leaders who should
have known better supported him. If you believe the war in Iraq was a
mistake, you have the opportunity to end this war by voting wisely. By
supporting Green Party Candidates you will send the message that you want
peace.
THE GREEN PARTY IS THE PEACE PARTY
We need to make changes in the way we do things in this county and the world. We are wasting the resources of the world. We are not only wasting oil, we are destroying our farmland; and we are polluting our air and water. Our two major political parties are tied to the forces causing the problems. It cost millions of dollars to run for office in this country. The rich elite control our country by financing Republican and Democratic politician. The interests of the rich elite do not always coincide with the interest of most Americans. Senator Levin has raised millions; how has he raised so much money? Carl like Jennifer Granholm, Barak Obama, and George Bush have Ivy League connections to the rich elite who run this country. Carl attended Swarthmore College, a college which now costs about $50,000 a year to attend. Then he attended Harvard Law School, which now costs about $60,000 a year to attend. He received a good education and made contacts with the rich elite in this country. Is it any wonder they can raise the money to run for office?
Carl, Barak, Jennifer, and George are part of and instruments of the ruling elite class. This ruling class controls both parties. If you are a member of the ruling class it is easy to raise the money to start a campaign for a major office. If you want to know where Carl got his Campaign money you can go to the Federal Election Commission’s website and see for yourself. It is amazing the number of $1000 and $2000 contributions Carl has received. I don’t know anyone who contributes $2000 to a campaign. The interests of the rich elite often prevent their politicians from providing the best solutions to problems we face.
There were fuel shortages in the 1970’s when Carl was first elected Senator. The U.S. domestic oil production reached a peak in about 1970. Drilling more in Alaska and off shore is not likely to increase U.S. oil production in the long run. Has Carl taken a leadership role in energy conservation? Not in my opinion. He has represented the auto industry in its attempt to keep fuel economy standards low. How has the auto industry repaid Carl for doing their bidding? They have moved good paying jobs out of Michigan. The sad part of all this is that many union workers still think Carl represents their best interests. Has Carl been an effective Senator?
If Carl was an effective Senator wouldn’t we have more factories in Detroit, Flint, and in cities all over Michigan producing fuel efficient cars and trucks. In the thirty years since he became Senator our Michigan cities have deteriorated because thousands of good paying jobs have left Michigan. The Michigan economy is now one of the worst if not the worst in the country. Since Carl has been Senator for the past thirty years when Michigan’s economy has declined; he must share some of the responsibility for it. How else has Carl failed?
Every other major industrial country has some form of national health care. Why don’t we have it Carl? Could it be that the insurance and drug companies are making so much money under the current system because we as a society are paying 50% more for health care than we need to pay? Carl, how many people in the insurance, drug, and health care industries contribute to your campaign?
In 2006, Democrats were elected to end the war. Carl have you done everything you can to end the war and bring about peace in the Middle East, or have you continually voted to overfund our military and send billions to Israel? If we stopped funding Israel’s defense wouldn’t they be more likely to sit down and seriously discuss peace with the Palestinians? Don’t we spend more on our military than any other country in the world? Isn’t this military spending ruining our economy? Carl, how many of your campaign contributors are invested in defense industries or supporters of Israel? I am running because I am not satisfied with Carl’s performance as Senator. If elected I will do the following:
• Introduce bills calling for increased conservation measures,
• Vote to repeal all trade agreements which are not Fair Trade Agreements,
• Not vote for any Defense budget which is not substantially reduced,
• Support investing in our people by providing healthcare and educational opportunities for everyone.
What I would do as Senator may not be popular with the ruling elite but it would be good for average Americans.
