Get Mega Man 9 Next Week...

Sep. 19 6:00 PM by Terry Terrones

...if you're a Wii or PS3 gamer. Today Capcom confirmed the release dates for the highly anticipated Mega Man 9. Wii owners can download the game on Monday and PS3 owners Thursday. If you own an Xbox 360 you have to wait until October 1.

Rumor has it that gamers will actually be able to buy a Mega Man 9 box set that was originally only sent to the press for promotion. This hasn't been completely confirmed but from what I've seen, the retro looking box would be pretty cool to own.

Review: Jeopardy!

Sep. 18 8:27 PM by Terry Terrones

Jeopardy! kicks ass. Greatest. Game show. Ever. Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right and Hollywood Squares (unless Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is on) couldn't hold Jeopardy's jock. You'd think a video game based on such a popular show would be fun to play and easy to make but as SOE has found with its recent release, that's not necessarily the case. A multiple choice, Trebek-less, game isn't exactly what fans of Jeopardy! are looking for.

Rock Band DLC: Megadeth

Sep. 16 5:09 PM by Terry Terrones

Starting today, Rock Band 1 and 2 Xbox 360 gamers can download Megadeth's album "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?". PS3 gamers have to wait until Thursday. Thrash metal isn't really my thing, in fact it scares me a bit. I'm more of a Susan-Dey-playing-an-unplugged-keyboard-on-The-Partridge-Family kind of guy. But just judging from the name of the band - MEGADETH - I'm sure they're perfect for Rock Band.

Review: Strong Badia the Free

Sep. 15 12:03 PM by Terry Terrones

The Strong Bad video game quintuplegy got off with a Coach Z starter gun bang last month with the very excellent first episode, Homestar Ruiner. Of course the problem with a strong start are high, sometimes unrealistic, expectations which are never easy to meet once the new game smell of the original has worn off. It's a problem seen not just in games but in other mediums as well. You know you never looked at Neo, Trinity and Morpheus the same after the first Matrix movie and chances are if you ever bumped into George Lucas, you'd ask him if he lost his mind after the first three Star Wars films.

But judging from the second episode of "Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People," the creative team from Homestar Runner won't suffer from a sophomore slump. In fact this episode, Strong Badia the Free, is even better than the first with a stronger storyline, cleaner dialogue and even more great one-liners.

Review: Samurai Shodown 2

Sep. 13 2:04 PM by Terry Terrones

Sometimes it seems an arcade game is released just for the diehard fans of a particular title, which is just fine by me. When Cyberball came out I'm pretty sure there were only about 10 of us who bought it, and the game was universally panned. Not that the reviews mattered to me, the memories of thumping all comers at the arcade in college made it a must have. The same situation applies to the recently released Samuari Shodown 2 on XBLA. Old school gamers and SS fanboys will love it because it stays true to the original and now offers online play. However, for gamers who've never heard of the series this release isn't anything to get excited about.
