Aline, Romeo and Jad,
Those were really sad news to see that TeleLiban has withdrawn from the ESC this year, as you had (IMHO) a great song. TeleLiban's behaviour was more than weird, it was outrageous, especially after the warm relationship that were between the Lebanese participants and the Israeli ones in MegaHit Last year. What was the big difference with ESC?? But what is more outrageous is that TeleLiban could not even stand behind the true reasons for their withdrawal. They put the blame on a legal situation which does not allow to even mention Israel on TV. Well, I've never seen any such prevention in Al-Manar broadcasts. But I'm sure that more Lebanese have their eyes open and just in no time, when your country will become free these barriers will no longer exist, and peace, love and music will remain.
A message of peace from Israel.
Amir
Poor Aline Lahoud
Aline, Romeo & Jad: Those are fantastic words! As I said earlier before, it is so sad that a thing like ESC is being misused to attrack attention. There are other means doing so. Aline: You had such a wonderful song, such a great voice. I hope one day we will see you somwhere around in ESC anyway and you know what? You are a real star!
if it were form me i would change the way songs take part in the esc...songs will be anonymous until the winner is called. Like this no one would vote for neighbours, andlike this politics would not interfere. it would be all about music. As it should be afterall. Shame shame and shame!!!
i love lebanese people and israelis. i have friends in both countries, but is this eurovision or what??
It is a shame that Europe is being denied such a great debut entry from Lebanon. I hope it goes on to be a success for Aline & her team in her homeland - and maybe we will see you all at ESC 2006!
We are very sorry to hear that.
I was very disappointed that Lebanon withdrew. Politics should not interfere with music and I never expected Lebanon to do this. I also feel sorry for Aline who had a wonderful song
Lebanon's withdrawal is a sad thing for us all, but especially of course for the people behind the song and the population of Lebanon. I spoke with a Lebanese lady last year in London when the news came out that Lebanon would take part, and she said that everybody in her home country were really excited abouted and talked of nothing else.
What I fail to understand, though, is why the "problem" wasn't solved in a different way. We had a similar situation last year with Cyprus, due to the fact that Turkey doesn't recognise that state in its present form. TRT had to ask the government how to go about when presenting Cyprus in the show. In the end, everything went fine, because TRT just said and wrote "Cyprus", as everybody else.
The ESC would have been the perfect opportunity for Lebanon to make a step in the right direction. Especially after the recent developments in that country it's hard to understand why they didn't take that chance. After all, they are taking part in all kinds of sporting events alongside with Israel. Stupid and very sad.
What a shame for Aline. This was a really good song and would have made the top 5. Hoep to see you next year Leabanon.
Best regards.
What a shame for Aline. This was a really good dong and would have made top 5. Hope to see you next year Lebanon.
Best Regards
Aline, I wish you and your team the every best.
You had a very nice song, and I hope we can see you one day again.
I hope things will change for the good in your country.
Lebanon, with it's rich variety of culture and religions deserves much better than this Tele/taliban....
It really is a pity - everytime- when politics disturb the normal proceedings of the contest.
It always is a very bad and sad situation for the artist (and the team behind and around of course!) whose chance to show his/her talents was taken away.
But if we are really true: who did expect that the Israeli entry would have been shown ion Libanese TV? The resposnible people should have clarified this previously by reading the rules - long before publishing participation and selecting an entry. Again I am of the opinion: Think about it before you're doing it - and think about it well!
I am very sorry for the team, for the Libanese music lovers and I am sad to miss this song in Kiev - maybe next year???
Pedro the answer is no.I have sent numerous messages to this team and NOTHING they do not even reply....it seems its okay for people like Baldur and for me to be called a bitter poof amongst loads of other things..
I am getting VERY annoyed.......
Do something NOW esc today......it is your duty!
Poor Aline/Poor Jad......my heart goes out to you.....
i am mildly annoyed as Aline has a lovely song that may have made the final.
Stupid Lebanon. Why not say that you'll be presenting all songs in their entirity and have some sort of trouble with the telecast. Its been done before. If its such a disgusting thing: the commentator can make an anouncement " please turn away from your screen we are now presenting israel" and let the people decide if they wish to watch or not. The TV station is dictating to the plebs and they are stopping the beauty of that country from being presented to the world.
do you know what would be great , aline lahoud and dana international do a duet for portugal and scr**w politics . it needs doing to show these countrys that as people we transcend our borders and that we are all one and that they cannot perpetuate this hatred anymore viva humanity . love to you all mark wood uk
Baldur, have you been examined by a doctor lately?
Good question. And if yes, (if Lebanon broadcasted the show last year) did it show Israel? ... Come on people, perhaps there is a solution to the problem. Let's see if all problems bear within them their solutions.
did it broadcast the show last year?
oops - sorry for the repeat
And you know what? I think if Lebanon does not broadcast the whole show anyway, can't participate in the ESC 2006! Please, anyone know if this is so?
