Godwins began as a peat specialist in the days when peat digging was a local concern to produce fuel.   The horticultural market expanded after the Second World War and Godwins now produces peat almost exclusively for this market.

Situated deep in the Somerset levels, Godwins has worked closely with English Nature and The Somerset Trust for Nature Conservation establishing and maintaining valuable bird habitats and creating new areas of flora and fauna in the region.  Godwins also has sources of genuine Irish Moss Peat drawn from peat bogs in the heart of the Emerald Isle.

The choice of the best in sedge and moss peat's has formed the basis of a top quality product range which now includes a wide variety of horticultural products such as bark mulches, soil conditioners and peat free growing media.
