Dixieland Delight
College Football September 29th. 2008, 1:15pmFirst, great song. Second, we’ll limit the fawning to a minimum, but only because the Tide must still make trips to Rocky Top and Baton Rouge.
But glee? Ridiculous amounts of unadulterated mirth? At a minimum. Two victories away from home over Top 10 teams is enough to say Beano Cook was a year off, John Parker Wilson is more of a ladies man that Tim Tebow and Julio Jones is the next Terrell Owens. We haven’t seen a big-game ass-whippin’ in the trenches like that since Operation Desert Storm. Also: Yes, and the Tide should be No. 1 in the country.
And yes, we type that with clenched teeth.

Funny, I don’t see Nick Saban’s name anywhere in this post … they must be winning in spite of him.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
I was happy to see Alabama whoop UGA
September 29th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
I don’t think they have to worry about the trip to Rocky Top.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
Saban may be a malicious, douchebagged, asshole, control freak fascist with nothing but his own interests in mind…but the dude can do two things with ridiculous effiency:
1. recruit
2. coach
Alabama = post-WWI germany?
September 29th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
JPW dont do it you havent even seen NFL pussy yet.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Sad thing is that, in some circles, Saban is a nicer guy than Hitler.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Alabama didn’t whoop Georgia, irish. Georgia just ran out of time.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
That website about JPW makes my eyes bleed.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
It’s a rivalry game and the Vols are down and will be looking for redempt…
fucking a’; who am I kidding? the trip to Rocky Top will be as much of a W for Bammer as it was for the Gators.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
and points.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I think we’re missing the point here. TBL secretly listens to country music.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
2. coach
Just to be clear he can do this on the college level, not so much in the pro’s.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
WWJPWD

cbh…no offense, but vince lombardi with bill walsh coaching offense and buddy ryan coaching defense couldn’t win with that shitty roster. saban did as good a job as you could’ve expected with those two louts he was saddled with as GM’s.

NickP and Ron Paul have a circle now?
First, great song.
I’d like to point out that the linked song is about being in Tennessee, not Alabama.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
What does any of this have to do with tOSU?
September 29th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Spencer, fair enough but did that force him to choose Daunte Culpepper over Drew Breeds? Much like Pete Carroll and Steve Spurrier, Saban was out of his league in the NFL.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
He wasn’t that bad. 9-7 in his first year with the Dolphins with Gus Frerotte at the helm. He also beat NE in both seasons. His big mistake was taking Culpepper over Brees.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
glad you asked, CRM…
September 29th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
ROLLLLL TIDE!
September 29th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Pete Carroll wasn’t that bad either. 33-31 record in 4 seasons with 2 of those in the playoffs. Not fantastic, but not “out of his league”.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Absolutely nothing.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Carroll was awful. Just ask Simmons.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Pete Carroll wasn’t that bad either. 33-31 record in 4 seasons with 2 of those in the playoffs. Not fantastic, but not “out of his league”.
Carroll inherited Parcells team and then they got progressively worse, and according to Wiki he was there three years.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Actually he was 27-21 in three years, 9 wins/yr. For some reason pro-football-reference included his record as a coordinatoor.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
He went 6-10 in his one season in New York.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
@ill - I hate Bammer but feel like I need to give some credit where it’s due. (potentially NSFW?)
September 29th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
He wasn’t a great coach, it’s obvious. But I don’t think he, nor Saban, were out of their league. Spurrier? Absolutely.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Who’d of thunk TBL was an Alabama fan. Music group, not football team.
If the polls did that deal where ranking don’t come out until after the sixth week of the season, Bama would be #1. As it is … OU, Bama, Mizzou, a fairly decent drop off, then a group of similar teams and BYU.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
His big mistake was taking Culpepper over Brees.
I fucked up. Culpepper got his roll on. I picked a guy who got his roll on over a guy with a giant skid mark on his face.

Miz- I know Hal(Baddog),the guy is nuts.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
@MIz, thx man. It’s about time the Bama pics you link were upgraded.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
unrelated. TBL, they voted down the bailout
September 29th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Alabama (the band) is the only decent thing to ever come out of that state.
September 29th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
not even robert trent jones golf trail? i know it didn’t leave the state but i’ve heard it’s tits.
September 29th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
Um, No
September 29th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Good call Spencer, I’ll give you that one.
September 29th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
uh-oh looks like someone may have to “re-suspend” his campaign…
September 29th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
not really
but that song is cool
September 29th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Isn’t Charles Barkley from Alabama?
