Dame Ellen MacArthur has won the BBC East Midlands Sports Personality of the Year. The yachtswoman from Derbyshire also scooped Sportswoman of the Year at the glittering ceremony held at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester.
Northamptonshire winners Shaun Murphy and Charley Hull
Sportsman of the Year was World Snooker Champion Shaun Murphy from Northamptonshire, and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club won Team of the Year for the second year running.
Horse racing trainer Jenny Pitman won the Lifetime Achievement award. Jenny said it was great to be home in Leicestershire and was touched and honoured to have won the award.
The Sport England East Midlands Community Coach Award went to Jean Perkins for services to netball.
All of the region's counties won awards with Derbyshire claiming five. Northamptonshire, who were included in the Awards for the first time, won three awards.
