Royal Western Australia Regiment crest

16th Battalion, The Royal Western Australia Regiment (RWAR) is a light infantry unit, which along with its sister unit 11/28 RWAR, comprise the infantry units of 13 Brigade, the primary Army Reserve establishment within Western Australia. 16 RWAR is arguably the most decorated Australian Battalion still on the Order of Battle and it's members are justifiably proud of our heritage and traditions.

Our current role is to train and prepare our people so that we can maximise their readiness to be able to provide an agile response to any operational commitment required by the Department of Defence.

In this web-site, we aim to provide an insight into the challenges faced by the soldiers of the Battalion during the course of their training, a little of the history of 16th Battalion, and an outline of the recruiting process.

If you are interested in pursuing a career as an Officer or soldier in the Australian Army Reserve, the recruiting page will give you all the information you need and provide you with the contact details of members of our recruiting team.

The photos posted on this site are all of soldiers of our Regiment undertaking training. There are no generic Army photos.
