Summary

America's Next Top Model (often shortened to Top Model or abbreviated as ANTM) is a reality television show in which a number of women compete for the title of America's Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modeling industry.

The show was created and is hosted by television personality, former supermodel and current talk-show host, Tyra Banks, who also serves as the lead judge and executive producer of the show. The first "cycle" premiered in May 2003 and was one of UPN's highest rated shows. The show's seventh cycle was the first of the shows among regular programming on UPN's successor network, The CW, and thus far is the network's highest rated series. The show will continue until at least the 2009-10 season. The opening theme is performed by Tyra Banks and is produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. Banks co-produces the show with Ken Mok and Anthony Dominici. For the 2006-2007 television season, ANTM was the #1 show in average viewers on The CW.

Last season, Whitney Thompson became the first plus size winner of America’s Next Top Model. She walked away with the grand prize which included representation by Elite Model Management, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, a billboard in Times Square with her CoverGirl ad, and a cover and six-page spread within Seventeen magazine. During the current cycle of Top Model, which recently ended, Whitney’s “My Life As A Cover Girl” ads ran in which she was shown doing everything from going on open casting calls to trying out the latest Cover Girl products to spending quality time with friends and family. This week, Whitney teamed up with Fashion Bug to offer up advice on putting together a stellar outfit for the holidays.

This holiday season, many celebs will jet set out of the country on expensive vacations but America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks plans on staying put. Instead of treating herself and overindulging, she’s decided to look out for her employees, who need a little extra help during the current economic crisis. "I gotta take care of my people. Hotel prices are at a peak. Because of what's going on with the economy I've decided not to take that vacation,” she says in an interview with Ebony magazine. “So I was like, I'll just chill. I'm doing a 'stay-cation'. Staying in the States."

'Top Model' Heads to New Zealand, and Back to America for Cycle 13

We can finally wash our hands off of America's Next Top Model Cycle 11, as the winners have been announced and the series won't be returning anytime soon. However, news has been buzzing that the New Zealand version of the reality series already pinpointed its hosts. TV3 announced just yesterday that heading the NZ edition is one of the country's most influential and successful models – Sara Tetro.

The judging panel for New Zealand's Next Top Model will consist of photographer and former model Chris Sisarich, and model/actor Colin Mathura-Jeffree. They will soon be uncovering new modeling talents in their country, scouring the New Zealand streets for someone who has what it takes to make it big.

America's Next Top Model: Samantha and Analeigh Open Up About McKey

To go through a competition as stressful and exhausting as America’s Next Top Model must be difficult in many ways. To go through it, make it so close to the end, and then get beat out must be even harder. Such is life for finalists Analeigh Tipton and Samantha Potter, both of whom were eliminated in last week’s cycle 11 finale. Analeigh went first, after choking during her Cover Girl commercial shoot. Samantha made it all the way to final two, walking in the final runway show and going head to head against McKey Sullivan. McKey walked away with the title of America's Next Top Model and, after all was said and done, Analeigh and Sam weighed in on what they thought of this season’s winner.
