Washington's Bellevue High School captured its sixth state title in the past eight years Saturday with a 35-6 win over Union. Streak Stoppers
Just a day after South Panola's national-best 89-game win streak came to an end in Mississippi, the next batter up struck out in Tennessee. Maryville, riding a 74-game run of success, was stunned Saturday by Hillsboro (shown above in season opener), 10-7, in the state's Class 4A state championship game. The nation's longest high school football winning streak came to a halt Friday night when Meridian knocked off South Panola in Mississippi's 5A state championship game. Running Backs Gone Wild
Pennsylvania backs Jeremiah Young (pictured) of Steelton-Highspire and Zach Barket of Schuylkill Haven have combined for 6,333 yards on the ground this season and 17,028 in their careers. Play It Again
For the second time in nine days, Connecticut rivals Darien and New Canaan will meet on the gridiron. New Canaan won the first go-around on Thanksgiving Day, 28-20, but this time the Class MM state title will be on the line.
