John Dragonetti and Blake Hazard are out to prove that they are much more than a touching love story.

The married couple, better known as the musical duo The Submarines, rode a heartwarming breakup-to-makeup back story and an excellent 2006 debut, Declare a New State, to widespread indie acclaim and a bevy of TV show features.

The pair even garnered the full monty of TV show features when the producers of FX's Nip/Tuck used the band's song "Brighter Discontent," in the season finale, with each of the characters lip-synching to the song in its entirety.

The heartbreak that fueled the writing of their debut has been replaced largely by a fresh perspective on the world around them, particularly on the imaginative "Fern Beard" and "1940."

MP3.com sat down with Dragonetti and Hazard at South by Southwest in Austin to discuss their new album, Honeysuckle Weeks, and their broader inspiration this time around.
