Cowboys activate RB Coleman off practice squad

Updated: December 5, 2008, 5:03 PM ET

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys today activated running back Alonzo Coleman off their practice squad after Marion Barber missed his fourth straight practice.

Barber has a dislocated right pinkie toe.

The move gives the Cowboys more depth at running back if Barber can't play Sunday at Pittsburgh.

With Felix Jones already out for the season, the only running back behind Barber was rookie Tashard Choice, who has 147 yards on 30 carries.

Coach Wade Phillips, meeting with reporters before practice today, offered no update on Barber's status.

Coleman went undrafted out of Hampton in 2007. He's been on the practice squad most of the past two seasons.

Cornerback Quincy Butler was cut to make room for Coleman.
