The British Ambassador to The Republic of Azerbaijan

The British Ambassador to Azerbaijan is Dr Carolyn Browne. Dr Browne took up her duties on 28 July 2007 when President Ilham Aliyev accepted her credentials.

Dr.Carolyn Browne is a career diplomat who was posted to Moscow at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union and visited Azerbaijan on a number of occasions during her posting there. She then served at the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York.
 
Between 1999-2002 she served as Deputy Director for Southern European matters, and the Director of Human Rights Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
 
Between 2003-2005 Dr.Browne served in the UK Representation to the European Union in Brussels and was until her appointment to Baku, an adviser to the Director of Conflict Issues in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
