HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA ROADTRIP WITH THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS CONTEST
The Vancouver Canucks are looking for a minor hockey team to join them on Saturday, February 7, 2009 in Vancouver to watch the Chicago Blackhawks take on our Canucks! This poster design contest is designed to fairly select the lucky team who will be invited to make the trip.
Who is Eligible:
Pee Wee and Bantam Minor Hockey Association teams who are registered members in good standing with BC Hockey.
How to Enter:
Teams desiring to make the trip must submit one (1) 24 inch by 36 inch poster created and produced by team members working together. The poster theme must be “How rivalries make our team better.” To be selected as the winning poster, each member of the team must be represented on the poster, either by including a team member’s image or words attributed to the member.
The team’s poster must be received at the following address not later than January 9, 2009:

The submission of the poster must be accompanied by a letter from the team’s Coach or General Manager, or other responsible adult, stating that the team desires to have its poster considered in the contest, stating the team’s name and home town, providing an address, telephone number and any other contact information which will allow the contest organizers to contact a responsible adult who is authorized to represent the team, and providing a list of all team members and their ages. The letter must also state that the team will provide responsible adults to accompany the team on the roadtrip.
All entries will become the property of the Vancouver Canucks who shall be entitled to display them in General Motors Place and in the publications, websites and broadcasts of the Vancouver Canucks.
How the Prize Winner Will be Selected:
A panel of judges will be formed by the Vancouver Canucks consisting of one representative from the Vancouver Canucks and at least two other judges not directly affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks. The judges will be asked to select one entry from all eligible entries received. The criteria for selection will be the judges’ collective opinion as to the most creative treatment of the theme combined with the most interesting artistic execution of the poster. The decision of the judges will be final. No correspondence will be entered into with any entrant other than the selected winner. The winner will be notified by mail or telephone to the contact information provided in the letter accompanying the entry. Runner up entries may be selected by the judges in the event the first selected entrant proves to be ineligible or declines to accept the prize as awarded or is unable to comply with the Canuck’s reasonable requirements as to comportment while on the roadtrip.
The winning team, consisting of up to 24 persons (combination of players, coaches and chaperones), will receive the following:
- transportation for up to 24 persons between the winner’s home ice arena and Vancouver, roundtrip, by charter bus. Scheduling details will depend on where the winning team originates;
- hotel accommodations if required based on the team’s travel schedule consisting of eight rooms suitable for up to three persons per room comprised of two Pee Wees or Bantams and one chaperon per room;
- opportunity to meet the Vancouver Canucks based on availability
- breakfast and attendance at the Canucks morning skate on Saturday, February 7, 2009 (all other meals are the responsibility of the Pee Wee or Bantam team)
- 24 tickets to the Blackhawks vs. Canucks game at General Motors Place;
Team members will be required to remain with their team at all times. Team members will not be released to visit friends or relatives while in Vancouver. Team members will be expected to comport themselves to the same standards of dress and behaviour as are required of members of the Vancouver Canucks. Team members will be expected to understand they are representing not only their own team, but the Vancouver Canucks as well. The Vancouver Canucks reserve the right to put in place reasonable rules of conduct for Pee-Wee/Bantam team members and their chaperons while on the roadtrip. All persons participating in the roadtrip will be responsible for attending all activities on time.
All persons travelling on the roadtrip will be required to sign releases and waivers in favour of the Vancouver Canucks providing the Canucks and others authorized by the Canucks with the right to use their names, images, etc., in promotion of the Canucks and in coverage of the roadtrip, and releasing the Canucks from any liability no matter how arising out of their participation in the roadtrip. Members of the team under the age of 19 years will be required to provide the release and waiver on their behalf from parents or legal guardians.
