Robinson: Hoping club will make signings

West Brom defender Paul Robinson is hopeful that the club will bring in new faces during the January transfer window in a bid to avoid relegation.

The Baggies are currently bottom of the table and have not won in the Premier League for nine games.

Robinson has full belief in his fellow team-mates but has indicated that a fresh influx of players could be crucial if the club are to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Manager Tony Mowbray has already spoken of his desire to bring in new faces but he may be restricted to loans with funds at a minimum.

"I believe in the technical ability of these players we've already got here, the mentality of the players as well," admits Robinson.

"I know they are from different leagues, from Spain and Holland etc, and the togetherness of the players is there to see and they all want to win.

Signings

"But January is just around the corner and whatever the chairman and the manager have got up their sleeves, the more players that come in, the better it is for the players we have got here.

"That can help us and improve that quality a bit more and then we can go on to win a lot more games.

"Fresh faces always bring a lift to a group of players. If fresh players come in, we will help them to settle in and hopefully they will help us.

"The fact that we are linked with players is a good thing. If you are not linked with players you need to start being worried.

"We have just got to be professional about our jobs and that is going into every game believing we can win and getting three points. We want to keep this club going forward."

The 29-year-old has tasted relegation from the Premier League before with West Brom and also during his time at Watford but the left-back believes that the squad can draw on its experience of surviving the drop in the past.

He added: "I think I went through the same sort of run at Watford. That was a bad year but I don't think this is a bad year.

"A few of us have stayed up before via the 'Great Escape' and Dean Kiely did something similar at Portsmouth.

"We still believe and that is the most important thing, that you keep believing."
