Notre Dame TE wants out

Notre Dame tight end and lacrosse player Will Yeatman is seeking a transfer from the school after a tumultuous year that included two lengthy, alcohol-related suspensions. "He has requested a release at this point, and that's all I'm going to say," Irish men's lacrosse coach Kevin Corrigan said Monday. Where Yeatman winds up now -- and which sport he plays at that school -- remains unclear. There is a one-time transfer exception in lacrosse which, if granted, would allow Yeatman to play immediately at another school. No such exception exists in football. Complicating matters -- and possible transfer destinations -- is whether Notre Dame will grant Yeatman a release to schools that appear on either the Irish football or men's lacrosse schedules over the course of Yeatman's eligibility.

the football program was in such disarray that it forced him to begin drinking. after the first suspension he thought things would get better, they didnt so he began drinking even heavier and was popped again for a drinking suspension. citing health concerns he has asked for his release....smart move kid

Listen, I COULD come here and talk about how the wheels are falling off like just because one kid decides to transfer, like happens in Michigan stories lately, but these guys are just KIDS. They are allowed to change their mind. They are allowed to make mistakes. A few guys leaving is far from a chronic problem... it happens when teams have good years, its just that no one notices then...

Best of luck to Yeatman, sounds like he has a lot of talent, hopefully he can turn things around.

I dont understand why this one kid has gotten so much attention. It not like he contributed anything on or off the field

I'd be drinking too if I had to get on an 8 hour flight to get stomped by Hawai'i on Dec 24.

A fresh start somewhere else is often the best option in situations like this. Good luck to him in the future!

December 16, 2008  10:20 AM ET

Well, at least he won't have to deal with this soap opera anymore.

Wherever you end up transferring kid... Just make sure you have a toast... To the school that was kind enough... To release you from the depths

Another story from the "who gives a crap" file! I wish him well but it's not like he'll be missed on the team. Before Ragone's injury what was he like 4th TE?

What an awful picture of Charlie. What's he looking at?

Probably after the stadium announced that the food at all the concession stands were sold out!

Have you ever seen a good picture of Slightly Less Fat Tuna?

1. Snowballs raining down on his team - 4th qtr vs the cuse
2. A young child dipped in barbeque sauce
3. Clausen's visibly receding hairline
4. Touchdown Jesus giving him the finger
5. Whether the scoreboard has a 3 digit for the visiting team
6. A burger vendor in the third row aisle

Ok, lots of funny comments guys. Remember that this kid and his parents were pissed when Charlie threw him off the team for his violating his probation. Charlie did this when ND really needed him at TE, Ragone had already been injured. I applaud ND for the decision to remove him, now it sounds like the kid is still pissed and wants to take his ball and go home. Give him his release and wish him the best, hopefully alcohol won't hurt his career or life.

December 16, 2008  12:28 PM ET

Well, I was about to make a crack about how I guess ND really DOES recruit intelligent athletes... but this dumbo's alcohol suspensions kinda defeats that. Dang it. Now I'll have to wait to take a good potshot at ND...

I doubt any ND fan gives a **** about this kid after all the crap he has pulled.

Does the TE want out because he can't get enough food at the team dinners?
