WEST BEND, Wis. — Virtual P.E.?

The West Bend School District will begin offering online physical education and health classes to some high school students in January.

The district's director of virtual programs says a fall survey showed students want more online classes and health was a top choice.

Jason Levash says students in online physical education classes will meet with their teachers four or five times to do such thing as create a fitness plan. They also will receive heart monitors to track their physical activity.

The district will offer two health and two physical education classes online in January and add 10 more classes next school year.

The West Bend School Board recently passed a rule requiring students to take a half-credit of their courses online by 2015.
