Campus redevelopment

In January 2008, work began on a new £215 million scheme to transform the standard of student accommodation at Aston University. The Aston Student Village project will provide 2400 brand new rooms, built to the highest standard, all with en suite bathrooms.

We recognise how important accommodation and facilities are to our students and we have taken this step to provide them with high-quality, well-maintained rooms which meet their requirements, whilst also giving them the opportunity to live on campus, which for many years hasb been a key feature of Aston's reputation for friendliness.

The project increases the number of rooms on campus, which enables us to continue to offer guaranteed accommodation to all first years who apply before the stated deadline, and to international students in each year of their degree. It also increases the number of rooms available to final year students.

The first residence blocks will be ready for occupation in 2010, and the project will be complete by 2014. This means that students joining the University in 2009 will be able to benefit from the new residences in their final year (or even earlier for some international students). The first phase of the project also includes other benefits such as a new campus sports pitch, new student common rooms and landscaping.
