Responsibilities
The Director/Senior Manager of Web and Business Analytics is responsible for leading Digg’s Analytics team.  This hands-on role will be responsible for tracking key business metrics, email campaigns, partner campaigns and feature performance.  The Director/Senior Manager will formulate user behavior modeling and forecasting, drive customer insights and identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and product usage.  The Director/Senior Manager reports to the Head of Marketing and will work cross-functionally with product management, marketing and business development regularly.Successful candidates will offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and a collaborative working style.  They will possess strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for achieving practical business impact.  Experience with the full lifecycle of business objectives to reporting, analysis, recommendation and product strategy strongly preferred.Responsibilities:
  • Define, track, and report on key business metrics and customer behaviors, including feature penetration, user behavior patterns, site flows and traffic patterns to drive feature prioritization and customer insights.
  • Measure key performance metrics for marketing efficiency and effectiveness (user growth, engagement, abandonment, campaign ROI, segmentation).

  • Develop, maintain and update analytical models to measure the success of marketing initiatives.  Help develop statistical models of user behavior as input for modeling and forecasting.
  • Perform ad hoc business analysis for product, marketing and business development teams.
  • Assist in development of business cases and analysis of new features, marketing efforts, and partner campaigns.  Play an active role in departmental presentations and decks by gathering necessary statistics and studying industry and competitive trends.
Requirements:
  • 7-10 years overall professional experience, ideally at consumer-focused websites, online media firms, interactive media agencies, e-commerce companies and/or ad publisher networks.  At least 4+ years of web analytics and business analysis.
  • Bachelors degree, or equivalent, required.  Advanced degree with quantitative focus such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, or economics highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated track record of success at helping improve key operating metrics around customer traffic, engagement, retention, and/or revenue.
  • Deep familiarity with metrics for online consumer businesses (user acquisition, clickstream analysis, marketing efficiency, consumer lifecycle, etc.).
  • Previous experience with web analytics packages is mandatory (e.g., HBX, Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.).

  • Evangelize the Digg value proposition to existing and new partners with a goal toward demonstrably increasing unique users and new registrations
  • Manage relationships with existing partners and look for and execute deeper integration opportunitie
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and make innovative recommendations to management as to relevant verticals, industries, and partnerships
  • Develop and nurture an ecosystem of channel partners and developers to ensure that Digg addresses the needs of its strongest supporters and constituencies
  • Identify and define business and partnership opportunities that impact key metrics and require minimal development resources
Qualifications
  • Internet industry experience and familiarity with the metrics and business drivers for a pure-play Web business
  • Strong modeling skills and/or experience negotiating and drafting term sheets and contracts
  • Excellent research skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize large amounts of information and present them concisely in both written and verbal formats
  • 3-7 years of experience in a relevant field, with demonstrated success managing a deal pipeline and closing both large and small deals individually and as part of a team
  • Masterful ability to create professional looking presentations, mockups, and product specifications that clearly articulate ideas and proposals
  • Technical background or strong understanding of product development is a plus
  • Ability to work with cross-functional internal teams and build consensus among development, product management, operations and finance teams
  • MBA or JD a plus
