Can I play that game in 1440x900 in max gfx details on my:
Intel Q6600 2.4GHz
nVidia GTX260
4GB RAM 800MHz ?
Many thanks for answer...

imstreet, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks for making this game not need a beastly system :)
With a Q6600 and a 9800 GTX+, how well could I run this? I'm going to build with those specs soon.
Posted by helimeef, 2008-08-08 12:27:45
I got the feeling I'm going to run this just fine then :)

Oh, I have a few questions relating to system requirements (this is more related to the engine)
1. Does it support SLI and CrossFire(X)?
2. Did you optimize for a certain manufacturer like Crysis did with NVIDIA?
3. How well does it run on the "recommended" requirements?
Posted by helimeef, 2008-08-08 14:40:48
Thanks a lot ubisoft for screwing over us Shader Model 2 users. I have a perfectly fine, yet older, computer, that runs most games that do not require Shader Model 3. It can even run Crysis.

40% of people on Steam do not have Shader Model 3 support. You're missing out on a huge potential buyer base, which means less $$ (since that is the only thing you care about, I know).

Now if you all had consoles to play it on, you wouldn't be asking these questions or adding those comments... You can't tell the difference between the console or the PC version, as staed from the developer, all the versions are the same (PC and console)

Heh, I EXACTLY meet the recommended requirements. Anyway, i too would like to know how far you can turn up the graphics and still have a good framerate with the recommended requirements.
Posted by Redspring, 2008-08-08 16:52:14
Roflage... Wake up dude! Gaming industry isn't gonna wait for you to spend 50 dollars on a upgrade.

And by the way... there IS a difference between PC and Console! You go ahead and try to run the game at 1920x1200 resolution on a console. No way!

Aside from that, I'm happy with the specs. I should do fine! :)

Quad configs, MB high end owners, GFX 9800GTX and GTX owners.....are you nuts or what? OF COURSE IT WILL MAX OUT Far Cry 2!!! Stop posting the obvious...and also posing your computers!

Posted by panchopex, 2008-08-08 18:45:25
Okay, then, with my configuration...

OS: Vista family
Ram: 2GB PC 5300

Graphic: GeForce 8600 GT 512 MB not overclocked

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+

May I hope play over 30 - 40 Fps, enven if I have to pull down every graphic options? Or will I have to boost my computer again? :p
Posted by klaustoo, 2008-08-08 19:57:39
I have forgotten, I use a 1280 / 1024 screen, and can play down to 1024 / 768...

Ah...the clouds separate and the sun appears. This is excellent news. Thank you Kimi & Ubisoft for clearing up the many questions we have all had concerning system requirements.

n Gage, its odd you mention that because the update coming to live allows 1920x1200 resolution and more if I recall, (cant find the article) I stopped using my VGA cable and have gone with HDMI 1080p on 360 so i don't recall the max resolution it said with it hooked up, but it was way up there! You would be surprised what console are now.. the 360 has a tri core you know... Besides the fact the game is exactly the same graphics by the developers cross platform, so resolution will not change that, especially from 1080p HDMI. But the hassles of PC, including compatibility and installs are not worth the headache.. I'd rather lounge on my couch and play always worry free.
But thats just my opinion.. Hope to see you on xbox live some day... I make competitive maps.

Congrats to all you who can run Farcry, looks like you will have fun.. to the rest, better pull out your wallet, this game just got more expensive...

Hehe... only reason why consoles are trying to up resolutions as long as they still can keep up, is because PCs are already at or even beyond them. I do agree though on the hassle free part. One of the only reason why I'm thinking getting a console. Just don't know which one yet. Happily invite you to my site to discuss the pro/cons of the 360 and ps3, as consoles I barely know enough about to make up my mind. Always been a PC guy, but I'm willing to try ;)
Posted by nGAGEOnline, 2008-08-08 23:08:21
Well thats good to hear Ngage, I think you would be pleasantly wowed, there is a very good reason why the Console gaming industry has boomed this generation and dominates softwares sales... The majority of people have made the transition because of the price of the tech is reasonable.. And if Farcry 2 can run with no load times, the consoles surely are more then adequately sufficient... Gears 2 looks hot as well and has earned most anticipated title from E3 on... I recommend the XBOX 360 to you for many reasons besides online play, most titles, and games always score higher on graphics and other areas when reviewed... But to you a PC gamer who can relate, I can tell you this, the 360 has 512 MB of Unified RAM and the ps3 only has 256 Ram and 256 Video Ram... The 360 also has a massively superior GPU... The list goes on, but here is not the place.. I recommend you buy the 60Gig 360 or the elite, any console manufactured from June 2008 up has the RROD fix... Hope you get one to see for yourself what the majority of other people see.. Incidently, for harware sales, the Wii (kids system, no tech, no real game library, but cheapest) has sold the most consoles, but the 360 is a close second in hardware sales but sells more games then Wii and ps3 combined... ps3 which is close in tech ability, is a pain for developers and has delayed game releases as a result, but does offer a low end Blu Ray player and a more mature library then the wii... So in the market, although 360 is second in hardware sales, it proves to be the perfect console for gaming and especially for online where they are number 1. Just a quick idea for you...

Talk to you soon, hopefully on xbox live...

You're wrong, Tactical_Recon, the Xbox 360's games don't run at 1080p, they run at 720p and are upscaled (stretched) to 1080p. The upscaled 720p image may look a bit better than a normal 720p image, but real 1080p on a PC looks far higher class.

Now, I don't want to start a big console war here, but I think the PS3 is definitely as good as, if not better than the Xbox 360 hardware-wise.

True, it's processor is harder to write for and it's GPU isn't as good, but it makes up for the GPU in the 8 core Cell processor. (check out some of the latest PS3 games, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Killzone 2, MGS 4, etc)
Posted by HMorrison, 2008-08-09 18:42:49
Would love to hear more about this stuff, as so far PS3 has had a bit pro, as I know the power of the cell processor is still not being utilized, but more importantly... I can use my Logitech G25 Racing Wheel on it. I can't do that on a Xbox, can I?
Anyhow... enough about that, here. Please, visit me to discuss it further: www.ngageonline.net

I speak only a bit english .
Can you say me :

Is my notebook Acer Asiper 7720Z good enough to play Far Cry2??

So that i can play it without problems ?! Please Help .

Posted by SwatMember1994, 2008-08-10 03:50:26
According to some info I found on that laptop;
# Graphics:
# Graphic Card Full Name:Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
# Memory:Up to 358Mb Shared graphics memory

The CPU and RAM are sufficient, but I think the graphics chip might not be able to handle it.

Aside from that, in my opinion laptops aren't meant for playing games anyways, so running the latest titles is for the kind of laptop nobody can afford. XD
I wish you luck though, but have my doubts.

nGageOnline look here then you can compare it :

Posted by SwatMember1994, 2008-08-10 06:55:08
I'm not wrong about the 360, its winning this console war for a reason,
Regardless about hype of cell, its proving a poor choice
with every game comparison, cell hasn't help them
win 1 comparison yet.. cell may be good for number crunching,
its its obviously a poor choice for gaming, or they wouldnt loose, or have trouble programing it. Fact of the matter is
360 is owning ps3 and has since release years ago! Not just in hardware ability but in online aswell.. Buy what you want though, dont say I didnt warn you...

And regardless.. 360 is 1080p now wither its scaled or not.. huge improvement from 1080i native.

Tactical_Recon, I'm afraid you are wrong about the Xbox 360's 1080p capability.

Read this if you can be bothered to accept that your Xbox 360 may not be as amazing as you'd like it to be: http://www.makeyougohmm.com/20070721/4652/

It may well be able to output 1080p images through a HDMI cable, but the console doesn't have the power to render any complex games at that res. They will all be upscaled to 1080p, so it won't look anything like 1920x1200 on a computer.

And Cell does help very much with all the PS3 exclusives, the Xbox 360's hardware clearly isn't capable of anything like Killzone 2. You may say that in comparisons of cross-platform games it isn't better, but that's because the developers haven't used it fully.

I know I must sound like a PS3 fanboy or something, and I'm sorry if that's the case, I'm not one. I own both consoles and a good gaming PC and I would say that the 360 has a lot of great games for it, a great online service and the controller is great.
Posted by HMorrison, 2008-08-10 19:16:42
Is there a solid release date?

Posted by wjessee, 2008-08-10 20:23:31
SwatMember1994... it's strange, but the link you gave me shows different specs from what I found yesterday... but i only did a quick google on it, so might be wrong there.
With the specs shown on the site of the url you provided, I'd have to say, i think it's possible. Maybe only low/mid settings, but I think you can probably even get mid settings, as long as you don't go too high on the resolution. Just don't expect too much. 8400GS graphics isn't the best graphics chip for gaming, but it will do a little of it! I guess for a laptop it's not bad. It might even do better then some of the older 6series cards. And like I said, CPU and RAM of the laptop should be fine. It's dual-core and 2GB ram. that's more then minimum.

So, my best guess is YES, but I won't guarantee it. Like I said. I don't think laptops are ment for gaming (although they can, nowadays)
Posted by nGAGEOnline, 2008-08-10 22:32:54
wow, these system reqs are a lot smaller than i thought. The recommended is like Assassins Creed required!

quad core phenom 2.5 GHZ, dual 8800 GTs, 3 gig ram...

This, and Crysis is what I got this rig for. Disappointing the system reqs are so low for this, compared to Crysis : / I can't make lower mortals feel bad about their computers ; ) jk
Posted by Manic0892, 2008-08-12 06:50:10
I really don't get it. Why are people actually "Disappointed" with lower minimum specs then Crysis?
Hey, c'mon... I spend money on PC because I like to play Max settings. It's my hobby. But don't deny those with that can't afford it the pleasure of gaming. Be happy they didn't make the specs too high, otherwise nobody would buy the game till after an upgrade. And don't forget... the lower the specs are, they higher your settings can be!
Posted by nGAGEOnline, 2008-08-12 10:18:29
Tactical_Recon, who were you referring to? Hope not me?! I've been saying that the PC version will be better then the console versions from the beginning anyways. But ok, I read it and I'm happy about it. If that [sarcasm] "crappy 5000$ Dell" [/sarcasm] can handle it, my PC can too XD

What people need to remember is that a well optimized game will have lower system requirements and that doesn't mean at the price of good looking graphics. A game doesn't need to be a resource hog to be a great game. Lets not get into a debate of PC vs Console and be thankful this game will be playable by many!

Guys, if you thought I was serious about being disappointed at low system specs... well, I wasn't. I'm actually happy that Crysis is getting optimized for lower-end PCs, because that means that my high-end PC can run it EVEN BETTER on max settings. I'm not one of those guys who wants to feel elite because I've got a beetter computer.

And, that's why i put the "jk" after my first post.

Don't worry Manic0892... don't think anybody didn't get the "JK" part... just (for my part at least) wanted to make it clear to others that are longing for this great title under different circumstances, not to get the wrong impression of this game.
Ah well... what do I know... I wanna play! XD

What's the point of buying a new computer if you don't know what it can do?! You might just as well give your money to charity, tbh.
If you want to buy a new computer... be informed of what you buy and compare prices. Don't get screwed over!
