Lisbon (Irish remix).

I was living in Ireland a few months ago, and , as I have dual citizenship (I am renouncing my British passport over Ausweiss/Identity cards) I thought I'd partake in the (first) vote on Lisbon. I voted No fot two reasons. Firstly the sparsely veiled "harmonizing over police issues". If we harmonize with Sweden or Holland, good. If we harmonize with Britain (de Menezes, plus one death or murder in custody per week) or Greece (ditto) bad. Secondly, I hated the incumbent government. I was going to put my vote on Ebay. Is that legal? Well, corruption in politics is par for the course in Ireland. Today I hear that FF (the ruling coalition party) are to re-run the Lisbon vote. OK, if Ireland were in the World Cup Final (stop laughing!) and lost what would happen if Ireland wanted a replay because IT WAS THE WRONG RESULT? Or a boxing match where Max Schemeling is on the canvas and we are told "Louis lost". He didnt foul, it was all kosher, but we wanted the oppostion to win. This being any other jurisdiction the second vote would be considered  to be totally invalid. Hey, what times does Ebay close?

i missed the vote the last time. foolishly i assumed that it would be passed. instead a confederacy of nutters pulled a fast one. the misnamed libertas- a cia front and the IRA political party( who had opposed EEC membership in the first place years ago) managed to hoodwink with paranoia and innuendo.
the above is such a dumb article- i hate the government so i will shoot the country in the foot ! the article bristles with illogical extensions.
it is the job of government to present the electorate with informed choices. last time they failed, possibly making the same mistake i did.
the particularly silly issue is being addressed-that of assuming a home grown rep would do a better job.
i hope the government do a better job of providing material on the compelling reasons to vote this thing in this time around.

Anworten.

Funding for Libertas is one question not addressed.S.F were unpalatable to me as they signed the policing agreement - a great betrayal. Shooting in the foot perhaps,I couldnt care less about the Irish "army" or abortion or tax rates.Finaly if the Govt put a very large sum of cash in my pocket I'll happily go abroad.
