Scarlet Utopia is a Spin Off. Some members of Cologne psych rockers Silverheat (Lotte - vocals - and Silver Fridgin’ Joe - guitar, fx, synth) decided to make one step further...right into space.
So the Band was born as a bulk amalgamation of musicians, who prefer to spice up their Indie-Rock Roots with some sophisticated Psychedelia.
Besides the two, Scarlet Utopia has Steven Tefkey on bass, an old friend of Lotte and Joe ever since the eighties heyday.
Steven was Part of Lemon Incest, IndiePsychRockers which had also Silver Fridgin’ Joe on guitar in the old Days.
On drums Peter "the Saint" Sherman completes the group. Peter was - and still is -with the 60s Garage outfit The 4 Horsemen.
The first rehearsals went well for the bunch and the musical direction is trippy, relaxed and sometimes heavy Space Music, mangled through the undeniable german roots of krautish early seventies music as well as classic british psychedelia.
Silver Fridgin’ Joe prefers bands like Hawkwind, early Pink Floyd and Monster Magnet but also has - like Steven - a strong eighties socialisation featuring the Talents of the Cure, the Nephilim or the Romeo Void. Lotte digs the Jefferson Airplane while Peter is a true follower of Can-Legend Jaki Liebezeit.
The Band is still writing new Material for a forthcoming release, scheduled for February 2009 - after some delay. You can imagine what Scarlet Utopia is about by listening to the rehearsal tunes, featured up here. (free download)

As far as the Band can see, there will be live activities in Europe next Summer. You will read it here, Folks.
In the next weeks we will do some secret gigs in our neighborhood, just testing the material we are going to record in January. Just have a look for Janet and the Icebergs.
