Transcend allies with Bharti to expand India customer base

Nov 16, 2008

Transcend Information, a global leader in the manufacture of memory products, has made a big step in its channel expansion by joining forces with its new strategic partner, Bharti group, a manufacturer and distributor of telecom and allied products in India. Under this alliance, Transcend’s entire portfolio of products will be sold and distributed by Bharti group’s extensive retail network of over 36,000 retailers spread across 3,600 towns in India.

Peter Shu, CEO of Transcend Information Inc., stated, "Our alliance and partnership with Bharti group will enable us to further consolidate our position in the Indian market. We are pleased to be in partnership with Bharti group, which will enable us to tap the large customer base amongst telecom, modern retail and corporate channels."

Formally announcing the alliance, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti group, remarked, "This partnership with Transcend will enable us to strengthen our position as the leading distributor of allied telecom and technology products in the country. Our understanding of the Indian market, coupled with our extensive distribution reach, is a perfect match for Transcend`s growth strategy in India."

Bharti group will distribute Transcend’s broad range of flash memory cards in the first phase of the arrangement. In the second phase, Bharti group will start distributing other products like USB flash drives, digital music players, digital photo frames, portable hard drives, multimedia products, and computer memory modules. As a result of the alliance, Transcend and Bjariti group will both be able to profit from the increasing demand for telecom and IT accessories in the India market.
