The Nokia acquisition

In June 2008 Nokia acquired Trolltech ASA to enable the acceleration of their cross-platform software strategy for mobile devices and desktop applications, and to develop its Internet services business. On September 27, 2008 Nokia fully integrated Trolltech and named the new Nokia entity Qt Software.

Timeline:

  • January 28, 2008 - Nokia announced intention to acquire Trolltech - release
  • May, 2008 - Shareholders agree to accept Nokia's voluntary offer for all shares in Trolltech ASA - release
  • June 5, 2008 - European Union approves Nokia's voluntary offer for all the shares of Trolltech ASA - release
  • June 17, 2008 - Trolltech ASA delisted from the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE) - release
  • September 30, 2008 - Trolltech officially becomes known as Qt Software - release
