”Lotsa White After Labor Day At The Entourage Premiere
Full Disclosure: I'm not really an Entourage fan; my brother's always watching it and I can't get into it. So I probably wouldn't have gone to the Season 5 premiere at New York's Ziegfeld Theater. (If, you know, I was invited to this stuff.) And so I wouldn't have had to follow the "Black White & Ugly" Dress Code that all guests were apparently forced to adhere to. But by gad, I would have bawled these starlets out for the sheer gall of sporting so much virginal white post-Monday! (And btw, Real Housewives of New York were particular offenders in this regard.) Like, if you want to break the rules, that's one thing, but I had the uncomfortable feeling they didn't even know! And this makes me sad. Black and White and Bad all over, after the jump.
More »The Trick To World Peace? Give A Star A T-Shirt And A Pen
Mother Theresa could have saved herself so much time if she'd just learned that the trick to saving the world is just to sign up a few celebrities, get them to doodle on an American Apparel tee, and sell the result for charity! Lately, this rather labor unintensive mode of giving back has been running rampant, with celebrities lined up to draw stick figures like five-year-olds at a birthday party waiting to decorate their own cupcakes. Of course, within this spectrum is a wide range of commitment (and skill) levels, ranging from the truly half-assed to the off-puttingly earnest. Which is all very laudable. And then, apparently, people buy them: Bono and, most recently, Elettra Weidemann, have enlisted loads of celebs for their respective tee initiatives and when the one-offs go up for auction, they always bring in the big bucks. After all, who wouldn't want a Billy Baldwin original? Hundreds of seconds of compassion and effort — with accompanying captions, naturally — after the jump. More »GQ Man Of The Year Awards: Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown!
I love the GQ "Man of the Year" awards cause it's like the "Sexiest Man Alive" but, like, Tony Bennett is in the running. And indeed, there he was (heart, presumably, in San Francisco) last night at British GQ's iteration at London's Royal Opera House, along with Gordon Ramsey, Robert Plant and a bunch of other Brits. And I know it was the gents' night, but man...the distaff side was appalling. I mean, we expect a jolly train wreck from Lily Allen, but Liz Hurley? Thandie Newton? Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy night. After the jump!
More »Barbie World: Venice Film Festival Has The Best Doll Wardrobe Ever
No, seriously: as I was scrolling through last night's images from the Jaeger Dinner at the Venice Film Festival, I was distinctly reminded of going to FAO Schwartz as a little girl and gazing longingly at the fancy Barbies behind glass, for all the world like Sara Crewe looking into the window of the bake shop in A Little Princess and staring hungrily at the hot buns...and not just because Diane "Helen of Troy" Krueger looks so Mattel-like either! There's a kind of pulled-together perfection to a lot of these looks that is somewhat unsettling...but still awesome. The Good, The Less Good, The Ugly - after the jump!

30 Days Of Fashion: Tragically Tasteful!
So currently there's something going on in Sydney called "30 Days of Fashion" and, for some reason the Aussies imported Eva Mendes to host it. Anyway, l night was the official launch party for ACP Magazine's "30 Days of Fashion & Beauty" at Sydney's Intercontinental Hotel. I'm not gonna lie, kids: I've kinda been spoiling for some really ludicrous fashion to tear into. But justice prevails and I must admit that people looked pretty damn tasteful. No uglies! And plenty of gorge. Thank goodness, because next week — NY Fashion Week! — will bring us a liberal infusion of Andre Leon Tally. The Good, and the Still Pretty Good...after the jump.
More »Death In Venice (Actually, Cleavage And Glitz)
So, the Venice Film Festival kicked off yesterday with the Burn After Reading premiere. And as you might hope, it was gloriously, dizzily Italian: dramatic and glitzy and elegant all at once — well, with a few notable exceptions. (Melted trash bag, I'm looking at you!) The Good, The Bad, The Italian, The Ugly...after the jump.
More »Shoes Gone Wild At Berlin's First Step Awards!
What, you ask, are the First Step Awards, celebrated last night in Berlin? Well, I tried to find out for you. And unfortunately this was the cryptic translation I received: "FIRST STEPS is more than a price: FIRST STEPS it all." Um , okay. "The young German price FIRST STEPS, 2000 as a private initiative of the film industry and the economy launched, is borne by the common desire, the film junior useful and effective." Then there's a Martin Luther King, Jr. quote. Basically it's an award for young filmmakers. (I think.) And, for our nefarious purposes, it's a chance to see some really bad dress-shoe combos. So come with me, if you will, to Deutschland! Goods and Bads, after the jump...

So, the U.S. Open's on. And last night Vogue's Anna Wintour, tennis star Maria Sharapova, actor Forest Whitaker, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, mogul Martha Stewart and others gathered for the 8th Annual USTA Serves' OPENing Gala at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Don't ask me what they did; what do they ever do at their endless parade of galas? But they looked pretty damn classy doing it. The Good, The Bad, and The Martha — after the jump!
More »Gossip Girl Party Was A Guilty Pleasure
Last night, the cast of Gossip Girl kicked off the show's second season with a fete at chi-chi emporium Henri Bendel (with YSL Beaute) on Fifth Avenue. And look how much fun they had! Although Blake was MIA (boo!) as was Penn (double boo!), Leighton, Taylor, Jessica and Kelly did everyone's favorite guilty pleasure proud. The Good, The Bad, and The Anna Sui — after the jump!
