Maybe we should all just calm down a bit and actually wait for the election to end. The margin of victory was within the legal limits to trigger a recount. They recounted the votes, the lead changed, and now Franken is ahead. As per MN law, the loser has the right to challenge the findings in court. Regardless as to how they rule, MN will have followed their own election laws. So let's wait for Coleman to do that and take what the courts say as the final... be it Franken or Coleman, it is all within MN LAW. Then the losers can whine.

Just have a re-vote in Minnesota. Forget about all of this and just do it all over, no matter what it costs. There will always be a question no matter who the winner is, so just have another election day and live with that result.

How about since this a federal election lets start a new program. Call a new election run by the feds and have ALL ID'S checked by federal agents and then you will cast a ballot. If you are not on the rolls then you will have a picture ID with an address where you get your bills sent to. The state can issue to anyone as long as they can prove who they are. If they get money from the government then that process should have been done already. Make sure all ballots are easy to understand and read. (must be tough in MN to understand the ballots). so if you can stop the double voting, the dead from voting, and only the people who are registered to vote then you may have an honest election. And you all thought that Louisiana was a crooked state. If MN keeps trying and the democrats keep trying Louisiana may not be on the top of the heap anymore.

The canvassing board was completely bi-partisan, and every single decision they made was in full public view and can be watched by anyone who cares to watch. Al Franken actually GOT MORE VOTES. Even if they count the ballots that Coleman is whining about, he won't surpass Franken's vote total. There was no deliberate ballot fraud of any kind. Franken's side made much better challenges. I didnt vote for either of these bums, nor did I vote for Dean B, but I feel that the recount is in question and one of the rulings from our State Supreme Court said that Coleman needs to challenge this through the courts. The process isnt over yet and does need to play out. I for one would like to see any/all of the irregularities of excess votes and other possible voter fraud exposed. I want my vote to count, but I dont want to see a vote for Mickey Mouse included in the final tally.

Coleman will win his lawsuit, it seems and is very suspicious that the minnesota canvasing board used two different and opposite methods of resolving what votes to count and what votes not to count...in democrat controlled area they elected to allow the double counting that was known to be done and allow in absentee ballots..in the republican areas, they opted to delete the known double counting and did not allow the absentee ballots. By having used two different measuring sticks they in essensce doomed the Franken campaign by showing a a favoritism (unknown if it was deliberate or just an oversight) to the democrats they showed an uneven, unfair hand in dealing with the election. Even Bob Beckel, democratic strategist says that if that is the case then Franken's recount win is in serious trouble. To give Bob credit, Bob was unaware if that was true or not, but that is precisely what Coleman is suing for...so standby people...oh and by the way, the two examples of ONLY two democratic counties, showed Franken got a net gain of over hundred votes by that skewed ruling...thats only in two counties, so with Franken only up by under 250 votes, they are very much in question given the permission to allow double votes to count in only democrat counties and allow rejected absentee ballots in those countees as well. 25 precints end up with more votes counted than actually voted. Figure that one uot. 1 precint had 170 more votes than voters because of the recount and Franaken picks up 120 of these excess votes. I am all for counting every legal votes but cant understand how some get 2!

There is a simple and (hopefully) honest way to solve this mess, which I think Coleman would agree to but Franken would not: Have a runoff election between the two of them. I think Coleman's win would be so large that Franken would go back to HBO and tell filthy jokes.

Coleman didnt lose - Franken managed to get duplicate ballots that someone "forgot" to make as duplicates. Hence the fact that in many precints there were more votes than registered voters after the recount!! I guess this is OK for Dems as together with Acorn they are used to "manufacturing" votes.

Even after Bush was inaugurated and the liberal New York Times, Washington Post and Miami Herald consortium commissioned their own recount to "prove" Bush actually lost, they instead found that in every scenario, Bush still had more votes than Gore. Get over it, Gorons, Bush won! Here, Coleman also got the most legal votes. How any Democrat with any illusion of personal integrity can say with a straight face that the recount was straight-up and honest is beyond me. The reports of new piles of votes "magically" showing up in Democrat precincts, counting the spoiled ballots for Franken and then adding the duplicates --- all of this stinks to high Heaven and everyone knows it. It is not statistically possible that every time a vote is close with the Republican on top, the recount results in the Democrat winning. Save Bush's successful effort at preventing Gore from stealing his election, this has been the history of these recounts. Democrats just keep recounting until they produce enough fraudulent votes to change the outcome that was the will of the People. The only way Democrats can get elected is by cheating.

Something is rotten in Minneapolis. How can the majority of precincts wind up with an INCREASE in the number of votes during the recount. Obviously the motto in Minnesota is "vote early and vote often." Franken whines about "counting every vote" until he's ahead. Congratulations, Minnesota. You've made the Florida election process look sane and fair by comparison.

Coleman "lost" in an "election" where multiple precincts had more votes cast than there were REGISTERED VOTERS...but, I guess that you do have to give dead people, people no longer living in a) the specific precinct; b) the city where that precinct is located; or c) the State of Minnesota the right to have their "votes" counted too! A "candidate" who continually finds more votes for himself in the trunks of cars and, Surprise! ALL of the ballots so "discovered" are for HIM, is surely a good man to seat in the "most ethical Congress ever"....yeah, OH YEAH!!! Al Franken isn't even smart enough to have forged a couple of votes for Coleman in the bunches found in car trunks....instead, he got stooges to think like he does...and all the "votes" were for him....

Harry Reid is delusional. It is not up to him who serves the senate for Minnesota; it?s up to the citizens of Minnesota! His head is getting far too big for such a small man.

Does anyone find it suspicious that ballots kept getting "discovered" after the election and somehow every "discovered" ballot was a vote for Frankin? Also, when ballots were "discovered" they somehow were in not in random numbers of ballots like 143 or 38; they were in lots of 100, 50, etc.? What is not being reported, which is the cruxt of the argument, is that when a batch of ballots were recounted in some districts, every time they were recounted and there was a different result, the numbers of each count were ADDED to the total, not ADJUSTED. Example, in one precint that had 256 for Frankin and 247 for Coleman, Frankin was up by 9. Then when that precint was recounted, and and Frankin wins by only 3, instead of adjusting the total, the totals margins are ADDED making Frankin up by 12. This is a well know tactic in the Democratic Party, claim votes were not counted, then manipulate the recounts in heavily democratic districts. When the other parys objects to the obvious vote fraud, they are accused of voter suppression. Finally, as for Florida, I lived there during the Bush Gore fiasco and the Democratic Party tried to get away with it and they were stopped. Likewise, why was it only in a heavy democratic districts run by democratic supervisors that there was a "problem" with the butterly ballots, but the REST OF THE STATE who had the same butterfly ballots for voting for president had no problems? Either there was fraud or the heavy democratic districts are full of morons who do not have the common sense to poke a hole in a spot that is marked by a LARGE arrow and the candidates name and over an inch away from another hole. It would be like someone meaking a left turn on red and using the excuse that the right turn on red sing was desigend to be confusing.

Let's clear up some things: 1) In America, the winner is the candidate who gets the most votes, not who you think is most qualified or isn't a scumbag (an interesting way to describe a man under investigation for corruption). 2) In America, the constitution defines who can serve in the Senate, not you. Franken meets all the constitutional qualifications (or do you want to assert his Hawaiian birth certificate is forged?) 3) Coleman will not prevail in his lawsuits. Despite the Rash Limp-bag talking points you spew, there was no double counting in Dem precincts, there were not more votes than voters in Dem counties, the state canvassing board was not Franken-biased, and absentee ballots were not disallowed from Repub counties and allowed in Dem counties. Many of the issues Coleman is challenging were already challenged and rejected by the courts. He has no path to victory. 4) Deal with it and start attacking Libs on real issues, like why Obama didn't involve Diane Feinstein in the Leon Panetta nomination.

It is clear to me that this is a misstatement and should be retracted. The state of Minnesota is responsible for electing and certifying their senators and to make such a statement is to show that there is no respect for the process of law in the state. Does Mr. Reid really suggest that if Minnesota certifies Norm Coleman after the legal procedures are complete that he will not seat him? By what authority is this statement made? Does Mr. Reid suggest that his will is more powerful than the intentions of the voters in Minnesota? This was an unfortunate quote and I would like assurance that it was a misstatement along with clarification as to his actual intent. I am happy to receive this clarification via email or post. I doubt I will get anything back, but here's to hoping. What a moron... I am ashamed that my fellow Nevadans voted for him.

Funny. How many recounts did the dems have in the 2000 election? "Official recounts". Then how many unofficial recounts after the official recounts. Minnesota is an embarassment to the country (if this were the BCS, only CA and Louisiana could argue for a higher standing). Look folks on both sides: In 25 Minnesota precincts there were more votes counted than there are regstered voters in those precincts. That is an impossible fact unless cheating took place by somebody. Get the facts and stick to the facts before you make comments. As to the 2000 election, a few months after the election the Associated Press, the Miami Herald, the New York Times, the Washington Post and others (all liberal publications) funded a recount of all the votes in Florida. They counted them every way legally possible, and issued a report stating that George Bush did indeed win the state. Again, get the facts before you post. Stop dealing in emotions.

Cede Minnesota to Canada...the state sucks, and so do it's residents.

I don't expect people posting here to be experts on Minnesota election laws, attorneys, or anyone else that might qualify their opinions as validly held, but I'll bite anyway. The Coleman campaign has been unable to provide *ANY* evidence of double-counting. The campaign was unable to identify the alleged 150 double-counts in Minneapolis, which is why the state Supreme Court rejected their argument. There is no evidence of overcount fraud, as the Coleman campaign alleges, re: 133 misplaced ballots in Dinkytown. The sign-in totals at the polls and the recount totals do not show a discrepancy between number of voters and number of votes, which is why election officials rejected Coleman's complaint. Again, Coleman's campaign had innuendo and nothing else. The absentee ballots Coleman wants counted were deemed correctly rejected by local officials as per the law. The absentee ballots that were just counted a few days ago, the ones that gave Franken the significant edge, were deemed incorrectly rejected as per the law. There really isn't much gray area here, despite what Coleman's legal wizards tell the idiotic press. Rather than reading the frequently confused and mistaken national or clearly biased conservative press, try following local journalists on the ground or people with knowledge of MN election law. Remember: In MN, if voter intent can be determined and the ballot is valid, it must be counted during a recount. Also, before attacking "roughly half the people in minnesota," recognize that MN had a third party Senate candidate receive >15% of the vote this past November. The majority of Minnesotans voted against both Coleman and Franken. Also, Dems, to say Franken ran "a clean, honest campaign" is ridiculous. This was one of the nastier races in the '08 election cycle and Franken spent months being an obnoxious jerk. This isn't to say he rigged the election, but he did run a very negative campaign. In conclusion, get your facts straight before you start whining about politics in far away places. Full disclosure: I DIDN'T VOTE FOR EITHER OF THESE JERKS! *** Born and Bred in MN, I'm doubting the truth to your name. But assuming its truth for a second, you need to stop listening to AM 1280 and/or go to law school and/or move out of the 6th CD/Bachmannistan if you think this recount has been fixed. ***

It seems that Franken and Burris should probably stick with each other for support, seeing as how the country will have them under a microscope for a long time after all the controversy. Let's see ballots were in someone's car, the number of ballots don't match the number of voters. So now we have "impartial" election board members divine the intention of a voter. Sheesh. A good voting system would preclude these circus acts.

Under Minnesota law, election officials are required to make a duplicate ballot if the original is damaged during Election Night counting. Officials are supposed to mark these as "duplicate" and segregate the original ballots. In that case, the board decided to go with the extra ballots, rather than the Election Night total, even though the county is now showing more ballots than voters in the precinct. First of all, in the 2000 election, Bush was ahead in Florida and remained ahead despite the recount. An old Democrat party trick is to keep recounting the votes until they magically make the margin of victory. There?s an old Georgia story from when Carter was running for Governor (when there were no Republicans in the South) where he questioned the vote tally in a precinct that he should have won. He requested a recount and when electioneers opened the ballot box, Carter?s poll watchers found a stack of vote cards rubber-banded together, all for his opponent. So, it?s an old trick their party has been practicing for years and it looks like they were once again successful in MN like they robbed Dino Rossi in Washington state a few years ago. Second, MN Democrats were so determined to unseat Coleman because he held a seat formally held by the late Sen. Paul Wellstone, a liberal icon. Coleman actually beat a living Walter Mondale not a dead guy. Third, I don?t understand why anyone would fight so hard to seat a clown like Franken. How can anyone take him seriously after his characters on SNL?

Just to clear things up here with some FACTS. 25 precincts in Minn. currently have more ballots counted than people who singed in to vote. There are a few of you who claim this is not true. If you really wanted to know, you could just ask state Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson who had this to say; "It's very likely there was a double-counting." (Wall Street Journal) I don't see what the fuss is about here. Follow the law. No seat until all legal challenges are over. Then you can all fire up your whining machines... good grief.

Yet, Burris is the Constitutional choice of the Governor of Illinois, and, if the courts determine, as I believe they will, that there was a severe case of election fraud on the part of the Democrats in Minnesota and Coleman indeed won the election, he will have to be seated as well. The Democrats talk a nice game, but if these recent events have proven anything, they have proven that the Dems do NOT believe in our Constitution or the Democratic process. Sadly enough, if the situation were reversed and this were, say Rush Limbaugh unseating a sitting democrat in the same manner, all of the Franken defenders, who based on political convenience are justifying every thing that gets them what they want, power, would be outraged as the Coleman supporters are now. The Minnesota recount was a joke; Fox News, at least, had the decency to actually SHOW the Coleman votes that were recounted by the canvassing board a Franken votes. Franken has literally stolen the election through a total, blatant fraud. Some impartial observers, rather than the pro-Franken Democrats running that state, need to get in there and do a serious recount. Geez, that Franken can even run a CLOSE race for public office speaks to absolutely nothing positive about the people of Minnesota, and that's a fact. What a joke.
