Maximocast #6 - Sounds From The Park Part 3: The Desert Drive Mix

Maximocast #6 - Sounds From The Park Part 3: The Desert Drive Mix

04 DEC 2008 Posted by Lukas Wooler

Lukas: This time I have decided to make a continuous mix of music inspired by a recent road trip I undertook with my girlfriend after the band finished recording our new album. In 5 days we covered over 1000 miles from LA through Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks and across to the Pacific Coast Highway. We tried to listen to some music that I thought would match the incredible, otherworldly
landscapes. Here is that music in a condensed format:

No Name (Poem) by Harold Budd
Telegraph Road by Dire Straits
Lunatic Fringe by Stefan Goldmann
Nelson's Back by Syclops
Boy About 10 by Harold Budd
What? by Mount Eerie
Nihilist Assault Group (parts 3, 4, 5) by Stereolab
Shrinking Moon For You by Wooden Shjips
Rings by Nomo
Practise Twice by Sam Prekop
Understars II by Brian Eno
Wicked Game by Chris Isaak

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!! Live dates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited?1 Can you?! can you?! I bumped into Paul Smith this time last year in Newcastle, I was slightly star struck despite having met him on rather a few occassions, however I managed to stop blushing for long enough to be able to have a chat to him about festivals and the Park bus trip to Cresswell beach, what a lush bloke. He left a very nice message on my fella's voicemail wishing him a happy birthday and talked about chocolate cake. 'Mon the Park!!!!!!!!!!!! xxxx

I've just downloaded this 2 weeks ago and I want to say it's brilliant..! It's not the kind of music I normally listen to but I enjoy it nonetheless. :) Good music to work to. Making homework etc. ;) . But if I ever should make a trip in the desert, I will certainly take this mix as well. ;)

@wilma-they'll come to the UK I think, those new dates are just the tip of the iceberg. They love to tease their fans,in more ways than just announcing new dates.I was having a conversation with my friend yesterday about it,she has a good opinion on the teasing thing,it involves Paul's bowler hat......................................

@wilma,I don't think that was meant by the NME as a target for Paul.I think they were being lenient in describing them as "flowery, literary names"-could have been alot worse!!! Have you seen the new tour dates for the Park on the latest Blog?

@clara- Ive just read it. It was good one except the "flowery, literary names". If mr smith described them as that fair enough, if not :-(. leave him alone and get a new target its boring now.

Who's seen the NME article this week about the Park in the studio? Its worth a read and the journo has let Paul speak for a change, instead of pushing the NME's attitude forward.
