Looking back over the decades

1960s

North British Housing Association was founded in 1965. North British Housing Association which was then registered and started trading in May 1970. The North British Housing Association was then registered with the Housing Corporation on 14th October 1975.

1970s

A subsidiary of North British Housing Association was set up in 1971 with charitable status and looked after the care and support element of our housing services. It was later registered with the Housing Corporation as a Registered Social Landlord in its own right on 10th September 1990 and was named New Leaf - Supporting Independence. New Leaf is an Industrial and Provident Society and has charitable status.

North British Landscapes Ltd – Originally founded in April 1978 as The North British Housing Association Landscape Department. In September 1987 the name changed to North British Landscapes Ltd. It is a subsidiary of NBH and it provides landscape, contracting and maintenance services primarily for NBH and some external work organisations.

1980s

The group continued to work on its strengths and was in talks with various other associations on how it could re-group to become more unified

1990s

The Places for People Group was formed on the 20th May 1999. (Initially known as North British Housing Group Ltd) it changed names to the Places for People Group Ltd on the 1st June 2000.

Bristol Churches Housing Association Ltd, one of the South West’s best know providers of affordable rented homes, joined the Places for People Group in October 1999.
