ENJOYABLE VICTORIAN-ERA WARFARE
WITH HOBBY MINIATURES

Photo of River Battle

The picture shows an actual game in progress, as the British and their native auxiliaries launch an amphibious assault on a river port in German Ouargistan. Click on the picture for a larger version and text details.

Major Gen. Tremorden Rederring, KCB is the fictional commander of British army units in the equally fictional subcontinent of Ouargistan, sometime in the latter 19th and/or early 20th Century. Ouargistan is the setting for the tabletop battles of a group of friends in north Texas, USA..

Maj. Gen. Tremorden Rederring's Colonial-era Wargames Page is a tribute to the Ouargistan group and some great times.

What is Hobby Wargaming?
Kneeling Soldier Miniature wargaming uses miniature figures and models to create a semblance of historical or fictional combat in the form of a competitive game. Each figure represents one man or a unit of men. Players act as commanders, using rulers to govern the movement of the miniatures on the battlefield and dice to help determine the results of combat and firing. For more information on the hobby of miniature wargaming, and LINKS to other gaming pages, click on the soldier.

Socio-Historical Disclaimer: Nothing on this site is intended to promote any political, racial, or social agenda, so if you are working yourself up into an ideological snit about colonialism, please calm down, spare your blood pressure, and just enjoy the site. It's nothing but a few guys having some mildly goofy fun with toy soldiers.
Philosophy
For the Ouargistan group, gaming is primarily a social activity, a chance to have a bit of frivolous fun in congenial company. There is no attempt to be rigidly historical. In the photos, you will see items from different periods of colonial history all used together -- red-coated British and khaki British, kilted highlanders and motorcars, Gatling guns and early aeroplanes. Our goal is a short vacation in a romantic fictional universe, half a world away and a century ago. Imagination and a sense of fun are what take us there; and if that means things get a bit silly at times, so much the better, as long as everyone has a good time and the sense of the general period is maintained.
